Same as busting up the inside of your opponent's mouth using uppercuts. Swallowing pints of blood slows you down.
A cut above the eye impairs sight.
A busted open nose makes it difficult to breath.
All of the above are great outcomes for an offensive fighter
You are just upset because some skin is more prone to cut/tearing then others.

 

Switch it around. It doesnt matter. Cooper got a second chance and same result. He was a banger tho. Eitherways Eurolevel champ gave a great account of himself and England nothing to be ashamed about. One of the few to have Ali in trouble in his prime and whether Dundee messed with the gloves or not didnt affect the outcome in the rematch.

 

I think the better question is 'could Henry Cooper have beaten Ali if he hadn't been stopped on cuts'. And yeah he probably could have.

Taking into account Angelo Dundee has since said he tore one of Alis gloves to buy him time after the knockdown, combined with his use of smelling salts, who knows how much trouble Ali was really in at the end of round 4 and if Cooper could have knocked him out at the start of round 5 without the couple of extra minutes he had to recover.

Cooper was actually up on the cards in both fights before getting stopped, that could have been hometown scoring though and I reckon realistically Cooper loses to Ali 9 times out of 10 cuts or no cuts.

 

Even the green '63 Ali? :think

Ali wasn't exactly great in '63, i had him losing 4-6 against Doug Jones.

Well in that case, obviously Cooper won the event.

And that's what really matters.

 

Haven't seen that fight but it was his first decision after a run of about 10kos

 

Brits are cool with Lennox retaining his belts and denying Vitali a rematch, although, despite the cut Vitali was beating that ass.

On the other hand, Cooper looses on cuts to Ali and its a sham.

You can't win those arguments because you are arguing fact and they are arguing on blind faith and emotion.
