While the skills he possesses may have been somewhat overstated on his way up, there is a reason why he was touted as highly as he was, and he'll be looking to implement them to the full from now on. In DeMarco he's faced with a fighter who can allow him to flourish when the bell rings. Well known for simply being on the receiving end of one of Edwin Valero's premier performances, Antonio is not anything special. Flattered by a win over a seemingly mentally-unstable(hyperbole, but he did want out for apparently no reason) Anges Adjaho, DeMarco is slow and predictable, with a somewhat shaky defense to boot. He's going to be exposed stylistically by a fighter who simply possesses to much flashiness for him to overcome with his one-paced, one-dimensional way of going to work. I'd expect Linares to box circles around him and cruise to a UD win.
DeMarco's too stiff for me, ok boxer but nothing that will worry the top lightweights out there which is the direction Linares should be heading. Linares seems to be a lot more careful after the Salgado disaster and has been focusing a lot more on his decent boxing skills at 135. I can see him taking the early rounds in this and building up a big lead. Hopefully he'd then go in for the kill, take a few more risks cos DeMarco is not a man likely to punish them. To really get in the mix at the top end of lightweight, I think a resounding stoppage win is important for Linares and I can see him doing so late on in this one

Fans? Don't think I've ever come across an ardent follower of Jorge, and the only people I've ever seen talk up DeMarco are Valero enthusiasts.

Linares may have dodgy whiskers, but i don't think Demarco is good enough to exploit that. Linares 118-110 imo.
Pretty much this really. I think against the kind of fringe world-class guys like DeMarco, Jorge will be able to counteract his iffy chin with his far superior skill-set for the most part, particularly stiff guys lacking numbing power like Tony. He's clearly a very talented fighter, but I can envisage him coming up short against the likes of Rios and Acosta.
