Formula1 is now going to Sky. Whats the impact on boxing?

So the rumours going around are that Sky will be cutting down on the number of PPV's for the forseeable future. Then this comes out. Have Sky blown a proportion of the Boxing budget (or PPV Budget) on securing this F1 deal?

sky had the f1 before it never lasted if i remember.

think they had the rights to the free practice on the fridays, about 10 year ago if i remember right.

and also when the f1 was on itv ok itv done a good job but advert breaks in f1 basically kills it you can miss the pivital part of the race even with a 30 second ad break and this is the factor that will kill it and end up back on the bbc alone imo.

 

Sky are going from strength to strength. Well embedded platform, good choice for family viewing and improved interface on the HD box. Sure, it's not as revolutionary as Virgin's TiVo unit, but they know their market.

They'll soon be in nothing but profit, so expect more aggressive competition on price and product, which means more and more "crown jewels" of sport will go there. There are already rumours starting about Wimbledon...

 

Good i don't want to see any more PPV's.

Ah for ****s sake, sky doing formula 1 is gonna be terrible. They'll have Jamie Redknapp as their expert panelist, just because he owned a ferrari at some stage.

 

Might actually be good news. The BBC are spending an insane amount of public money on F1 so this might free up a little space for boxing to return on the beeb. I know it's highly unlikely, but you never know. Especially if a few star amateurs come out of the Olympics. There's more chance of boxing returning on the bbc with no F1 on there, but it that way.

love it when hoddle is on champ league nights and ruud hulit and greame souness are both on and when souness talks they put the screenshot on for 3 time europeon cup winner or whatever it is and hulit former 2 time europeon cup winner and then hoddle's screenshot come on.....former semi finalist with monaco hahaha!!!

Good news for sky, bad news for F1 fans, free sport on tv is disappearing. Viewing figures will drop. Effect on boxing ... Very little

 

I wonder what the BBC is gonna do with the money they spent on F1? From what I read it got decent viewing figures. I cant see it going on boxing, maybe more football or go after the cricket rights. Isnt F1 one of those sporting events that has to be on terrestrial like the FA cup?
