Jose has made a habit of feasting on prospects. A highly motivated Vargas could be the one to clear his plate, but if he expects it to be easy he could be in for another long night like he had against Favela and might just wind up in Lopez's digestive tract.

This could be the best PPV in years, even with the main event being a schooling.

It's part of the HBO-PPV, but from a different site (Staples Center in LA). HBO is supposed to air the Vargas-Lopez and Morales-Barrios fights from Vegas, then switch to Alvarez-Gomez, and finally back to Vegas for the main event.

 

Good fight here, Lopez is a live underdog here and I half expect him to pull the upset. I really am surprised GBP is putting Vargas in this tough, credit to them for this. He was beating up guys like Estrada and a shot Harris, which is fine competition for a guy with 15 or so fights, but I figured they'd find another veteran who had seen better days for this card.

This card has really strengthened up over the last week. First, Morales-Barrios replaced the Crolla fight and now Vargas is being matched much tougher than anticipated. This went from being an ok card to a good looking one in a weeks time.

I even think the main event might be a bit more competitive, atleast early, than we think. With Mayweather's age and layoff I can see some rust early and if Ortiz is coming out with guns blazing it could be interesting over the first half of the fight. I fully expect Mayweather to be in command and taking it to Ortiz by the end of the fight but I think we get an interesting fight for 5-6 rounds.

I agree that this card is really starting to look good. Vargas-Lopez is a very good fight, Morales-Barrios, even with both guys being way past their best, is a fun fight. Alvarez-Gomez should be one of those one-sided but entertaining fights. Very good card, I'm looking foward to it and hopefully it becomes contagious and Top Rank puts on deep cards on their 2 ppvs coming up this year.

 

Star Power? Please rename it Latin Nights and move it to Mexico City at this point.
