Herbie Hide has been cleared of ****. I think this would be a very good fight for Fury to take soon, while he's still green & has less than 20 fights. Obviously Hide is very past-prime & 39 years old, but i reckon this would be a good publicity fight for the young Fury. It would be a easy fight for Channel 5 to market & get high viewing figures. Hide is 49-4 & held the WBO heavyweight title from '97 until '99 when he lost to Vitali. I know Fury wants to fight Rogan for the Irish title, get "Tyson revenge" against McBride, has been challenged by Audley, & will likely have a defense of his titles against Price... but i would like to see Fury-Hide on Channel 5, free for all of Britain to see. :bbb http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=2039&cat=boxer http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-14232949
Good fight. Herbie is old. But doesn't have any serious mileage. Good name opponent from yesteryear. All Fury has to do is land cleanly and Hide's out of there. Anyway i thought Hide was staying at 200lbs?
Hide has mainly been just a Cruiser since '06, but he had a Heavyweight fight in '08 in which he weighed 211lbs against a guy weighing 222lbs. I think Hide would be willing to fight Fury, it would be his best payday since he fought Vitali in '99 i'd assume! Hide just has to come in at 210-215lbs & he is a legit ex-beltholder Heavyweight opponent. My point is Hide is a good British name, for Fury to KO. Vitali stopped Hide by KO2, Fury could aim for a brutal KO1.
Hmmm never thought of this one, Herbies still a name even with casuals and is likely looking for one last big payday but im not sure he would be in a rush to fight at heavy again
I know what you mean, all 4 of Herbie's losses are stoppages at Heavyweight, but he is undefeated at Cruiser.
Hide is well-known & a ex-beltholder at Heavyweight. This is a good fight for Fury right now, at this development stage of his career.
I think it's a tremendous shout :good Hide must know that his opportunity to fight for a belt at cruiser is a long shot now and at his age he might be looking for a high profile fight at HW that can earn him a couple quid. It'd be a good name for Fury to have on his record and I'm sure Hide will do great to promote the fight if it did get made. Would love to see it.
hmm... firstly its good to hear that hes been cleared of **** as I read his book recently, & it aint nice to think you were reading the thoughts of a mad ******! so clear conscience:yep As for the fight, sounds easy on paper for Fury with the size & reach advantage & Hides chin, BUT... although Tyson is a great guy, down to earth, funny & just damn likeable, against Chisora he was painfully slow, & his punches didnt carry the power you would expect from a man of his size(although I expect him to get stronger as he grows into his massive frame as the years go on) Hide has always been fast, & a clever boxer too, knowing hes fighting in last chance saloon & is naturally big-headed anyway, so I could see Hides speed & experience givin Fury problems. Interesting fight, & maybe too dangerous for Fury just yet. Speed, skills & experience being the reasons.
Well if you think it's too dangerous right now, Fury could always fight Rogan, McBride & Audley first, then take on Hide, then defend against the dangerous Price. Personally i wouldn't worry about Fury losing to Hide, since the Bowe fight showed even a Prime Hide at a ripped 214lbs got gassed very quickly with the strong 241lbs Bowe leaning on him.
Really not a bad fight. Hide can hit if nothing else, so this will answer once and for all any lingering questions about Fury's chin taking a big heavyweight shot. Good name, and should be a bit far gone to really hassle Fury too much. Great move for the kid. Hide would probably take it in a heartbeat, since - who's seen Hide or hair of him since that Prizefighter fiasco? :yep Three rounds in 2+ years. :-(
Herbie Hide is at Crusierweight.. Just fight Audley Harrison, get afew million viewers on channel 5..? And knocked the fraud out..? get some decent publicity, due to Audley Harrison's status. What are people scared of....? :rofl Audley Harrison's only a fraud, who can't fight right..? And he's 40 years old.
