Can Prescott beat Mccloskey? and if he does should he get a shot at Khan?

I'm indifferent toward Khan, and until fairly recently was foremost among his outspoken critics.

Maciel is a much, much, much, much better boxer than Prescott. Sorry Bogo, but that is a RIDICULOUS comparison. In terms of accomplishment, OK both are equally unaccomplished (save for that one glitzy resume-flattering first round KO that Prescott has) but the skill levels aren't even close. ...and Maciel isn't a world beater. That's my whole point. Prescott is club fighter level.

My problem with Prescott is that some (mostly Khan haters...and remember, I used to be one or fairly close to it) big him up as being a significant contender based on one somewhat flukey win which he doesn't have a prayer of ever repeating in his life.

Also he has a crap style and doesn't seem to take the sport seriously enough to really learn the craft to go with his middling natural gifts (length, power, and decent athleticism). He's also a bit dirty.

Basically, he's a name that doesn't warrant any mention in the boxing community except as an interesting footnote in Khan's career (much like Torrecampo is in Pacquiao's). Do you ever hear about Torrecampo outside threads that have to do with Pacquiao? No, and rightly so. Likewise there shouldn't be any chatter about Prescott, because he is completely insignificant. Yet there is a LOT of chatter...and like I said, it's mostly from overzealous Khan haters with a clear agenda of building him up as though he wasn't just some low-skill club fighter who made good on one particular night that is fading into the distant recesses of most fans' memories.

as a person i would want to avenge my only loss. prescott may not be that good but khan should want to prove it was a fluke the first go around. cause prescott beat him pretty handedly. i dont see khan going anywhere near him due to the high risk low reward reasoning.

    There is no more risk.

Prescott would never in a million years duplicate that result with where Khan's at now. That same sort of approach just would not work anymore, and he would get badly embarrassed trying.

...and again, I'm not even a Khan cheerleader. Bradley outpoints him with ease, and DID let him escape from a beating.

They weren't even really world class opponents either, which makes it even funnier.

That being said, if Prescott somehow manages to beat McCloskey then sure, why not chuck him in with Khan. After Khan destroys him maybe people will shut the **** up about it.

prescot has since gone the distance 5 out of 6 times, with one tko, over a guy ranked #452 in the world...yes four hundred fifty two

    W10 Bayan Jargal 15-1-3
    W10 Harrison Cuello 19-12-3
    TKO3 Jason Davis 11-6-1
    L12 Kevin Mitchell 29-0
    L10 Miguel Vazquez 24-3
    WDQ10 Humberto Toledo 33-5

somehow he is an an eliminator for the wba..boxrec has a more accurate true rating at #21
if he cant knock any of these guys out anymore...he wont make it past 5 rounds against khan...hes 10 times better now..

In a rematch I would put some serious money down on a Khan stoppage before the 8th, probably from a body shot. He seemed to have a lot more pop in his punches vs Judah.

I agree on basically all your points; except the style (but that's a matter of preference I suppose.) It's annoying to have basically Khan's version of Torrecampo being constantly hyped by critics and impulsive boxing fans. But I think against Jargal he showed clear improvements, and it baffles me that some people won't give him an inch of credit for it. There are bums who look far worse against worse competition. He's using his reach more, he's moving his feet and head better, and he's throwing better combinations. The comparison to Maciel isn't that far-fetched or "RIDICULOUS" when you compare their resumes or last fights, even when keeping in mind the difference in level in opponent as I'm sure you do.

He would need a miracle to beat Khan a second time, isn't world class by any means, and does not deserve a shot at Khan by a long shot at this stage in his career. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have potential as a fun fighter to watch, and it seems too many people would prefer he not exist at all just because a few idiots want to make him seem like a cloud looming over Amir's head. He throws a stiff long jab, has some power, isn't afraid to be aggressive, and has a bit of potential to develop his skills. I don't see anything wrong with that at all and I'm just tryin to curb the hate.

We'll see how he looks against McCloskey.
