Then there's good old spiritus with caramelized sugar.

Hit and miss, obviously the bigger the brewery the more likely you are to find it. http://www.binnys.com/beer/search/?advs=3&ast=&asc=34&astxt= that's the German beer selection of the area liquor depot, though their in store selection usually isn't quite so big. I've found beers from all over the world there, had a Latvian beer once that was good.

EDIT: They have the Veltins you mentioned, for example. Mind you this is a large liquor store specializing in carrying a shitload of different types of alcohol. Grocery stores and corner stores obviously have considerably less. A good place to find Polishh (or -insert ethnic beer-) in Chicago is to visit the appropriate neighborhood.

Jose Antonio Rivera is a former two-division world titlist, and in his prime was a very solid lunchpail type of fighter. I don't know who he's in with. Another confidence builder in his comeback.

Beers in poland are swill, on par with Corona and Heini, believe me. A lot of people like these (I use to) but you should be aware that theres an upper tier of beers (hundreds if not thousands) that, at least to me an many others, is simply incomperable. But taste is somewhat subjective so..............
I recommand you start with this site, if you want to take a peek at world class , elite beers:

    Talk about being pretentious

You sound like some kind of snobby wine critic

I actually prefer Tyskie,Lech, and Zywiec to czech, bavarian, and belgium beers.

Btw Ive been to antwerp and praga and I didn't care much for their beer. Its a preference thing, its not about "being in the know"

I'm well aware of beeradvocate (aka the Pitchfork of beer). Don't get me wrong, there are some beers that are far more amazing than anything you'll find mass produced (I highly, highly recommend you try anything by Three Floyd's Brewery. It's near Chicago and their beers get amazing ratings on beeradvocate), but I can still enjoy anything down the line if the price and setting are right.

It is and it isn't. There is a huge community of people on the internet to whom beer is an absolute passion and which can come on a rough consensus where a particular beer lies in terms of taste and quality. Just like boxing is a passion to you and you wouldn't trust a noob to judge a boxing match.

I prefaced everything by saying that taste is subjective, but there's no doubt Polish beers are a) mostly pilsners b) are therefore mostly copies of chech pilsners which invented this style of beer c)are made in huge factories with very little hops and lousy yeasts, which are the most expensive components of beer.

While you were in Belgium care to tell me which beers you've actually had. Belgium is absolutly famous for elite beers, such as trappist ales but for every beer like that youll find a dud like Stella or Hoegarden too.

You guys try DAB or Hövels.

They are brewed in my home town, about 10-15 clicks from my house.

EDIT: how could I forget Dortmunder Export?!

Damn, looks like I have to head out before Wach-McBride. Hopefully Wach can put the big Irishman down!
