Was 2009 Manny Pacquiao 1 of those special fighters like 1994 RJJ & 1989 Sweet Pea?

He was a freak of nature. But I don't know if I'd call him special. Cotto was definitely a great win and I still don't understand why they needed to fight at a catchweight that Manny didn't even need. Hatton was made for him and Hatton didn't even look like the same fighter that fought Floyd in 07. If he had fought JMM and demolished him at 140 I would say he was definitely special. But he was still the top fighter of that year.

    Floyd right before Pac-Hatton

    "I am returning to boxing."

    Floyd right after Pac-Hatton

    "Oh ****..."

    Floyd right after Pac-Cotto

    "What have I done..."

    :yep

Floyd => Blood test or no fight => 1 year vacation

Pea would've outboxed Pacquiao from a distance and outdone him on the inside.

    At 140, not 147.

Add the Dela Hoya fight. Weight issues aside I think he displayed tremendous boxing skill against Oscar.

Hindsight is 20/20. Back then it's different. They were still not sure if Manny can perform well against elite opponents at the higher weight. Well now we are sure he can.

with how these guys easily dismiss the weight difference between floyd-jmm as inconsequesntial, i find it odd that they put so much weight on cotto going 1 lb lighter than his previous outing as a case for discrediting the win. north of 135, cotto was simply one of his biggest wins.

A special fighter, no doubt. Maybe not quite as great as the fighters you mentioned, but a case could be made.
