Why no Hagler vs Rodrigo Valdes?

    Did Valdes slip too fast?

    Looks like he would be a good name on Hagler's record.

    Yes.

    He disappeared into obscurity after the two losses to Corro.

    The second fight with Monzon really did him in...he had to go 15 to defeat Briscoe for the vacant title, and that used up the last drops of what he had..he was easy prey for the light hitting Corro after that.

    Hagler, by '78, would've handled Rod Valdes.... Hagler was held back cuz he was blue collar...... BUT! He is my top-dog of all-time at 160..... Real bad-ass........

    Valdez was out after the two Monzon fights. There's simply no way they could have fought. Hagler became champ over four years later!
    Rodrigo had been fighting pro since 1962. He ultimately was in too many wars over the years. Still an ATG middle IMHO who would have given anyone hell in ANY era...
