He actually lost to my dads friend Miguel Mathews . . . Cos in the Valleys thats how we roll. forget 46-0, its all about the 15-84-11 :happy
Hard, hard!Scotish ****er,not the biggest hitter but it never mattered that much.He was skilled and as hard as they come.Would have given Naz,Barrera and Morrales a close fight when on the top of his game.Would not have been a shock had he beat one of those guys when at his best.Shame he never got the chance to go to the very top, missed out on some big fights through politics and went off the rails. I hope he is doing ok,always a good one to watch on T.V.
I was never aware of that mate, the closest we came to a big fight that i remember is orgr Barros who was the SFW champ and Peter didnt want it
A right narly ******* with the attitude to match, with a massive chip on his shoulder! BUT, his fighting style was great, tough and very strong, loved to watch him fight, a shame he wasted it
Not much for me to type here.......some top info too, some i didnt know and thanks. BUT i truly believe his 'tashe ****ed with opponents heads, i do. When did he start rocking the 'tashe ? 16/17 ?
Actually.....i have just noticed that Scott fights anti-clockwise !!! :happy:happy:happy:happy Hence why he always had the pressure on, always stepping across them and keeping them in range. Perfect example being, when the ref breaks em up....he steps back and to his right...surely a natural non clockwise fighter. Mandy, this has just become a glorious morning. :love :love :love Billy....was that Colin McNeill holding one of Scotts belts aloft in the Brodie fight ?
your right bro, i watched the footwork yesterday. You've opened my eyes with that one. The tashe was that of a bad man [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Euz9a0oAlw[/ame]
You knows ma addiction to anticlockwise yada yada but i canna believe i missed this !!! I remember watching Nelson showing a boy in the gym, to step away to the right with the jab and i was like POW !!! If theres one punch i know......its that one.
I think this debate about Scott Harrison show what a true champion he was as we are all debating how good he really was years after he stopped boxing . I personally think he was a great thinker and very determined boxer . he did have a bad night against Medina which he latter sorted out but it is with respect that I say this he had to many friend that did not keep him on the straight and narrow instead they helped him party and he got to addicted to the drink and then the drugs but the guys who ran with Scott Harrison are as much to blame as him because if he was my son I would have hoped his friend and his dad friend would have said something to sort it out long before it got to bad but then that is the way I would have done it if i where in these circles.
Trust me pal, when Scott has his mind set on doing something his way, thats the way its happening. His single mindedness was possibly his greatest strength, but in way his self destruct button too
BodyBlaster you are bang on but I believe that he was easy led by so called friends when Scott went out for a bevy most time it was with his pals from the gym never did he go alone . I saw him in Edinburgh at one of the fights maybe AAA he looked excellent that night dressed to kill and was sober yet the next day it said he was fighting in Glasgow but I no for a fact he stayed in Edinburgh with a young girl he came with . so not everything that said about Scott was true but like most who read the press they believed everything that was written. now maybe boxing people should remember the good times and leave the past in the past.
Scott was very good . If he got on top, he stayed on top . Offensively be had great variety in his work. Defensively he had poor head movement , if he had gone against Barrera, Marquez, Hamed or Morales this is what would have cost him. They would have landed hard and often. He may have been sick when he lost to Medina, but Hamed was sick as a dog when he knocked him out years earlier. Johnson and Patterson were old, but Pattersons jab could not miss. Scott was very good on his day, but he would not have been on his day against the Mexicans or Hamed. I would expect him to get stopped more than once .
