Why does Floyd not understand that looking great is not the same as being great?

"I'll never get the props I deserve", "Marquez was #2 p4p when I beat him", etc etc. :dead

For a student of the game, Floyd Mayweather does not seem capable of grasping the fundamental concepts of boxing greatness...

    - fighting great opposition alone does not make you great

    (example:

fought Frankie Randall, Roger Mayweather, Livingstone Bramble, Pernell Whitaker, Jorge Paez, Rafael Ruelas, Giovanni Parisi, Darryl Tyson, Tony Lopez, Felix Trinidad, Vince Phillips, Ben Tackie and Ricky Hatton, yet retired with a 47-26-5 record and was not a great fighter)

    and

    - looking great against opposition that is not great does not make you great

    (example:
    This content is protected
's record is 27-0(27) and he was a 2-weight world champion with a 8-0 record in world title fights, but he never beat any real top fighters and so can't really be considered a great fighter)

If looking great was the sole criteria for being a proven great, then three of the greatest fighters in history would (in my opinion) be:

    -
    This content is protected
(see 1st fight with Mike McCallum)

    -
    This content is protected
(see more or less any fight from 1990-97)

    -
    This content is protected
(see more or less any fight from 1977-80)

And although those guys are all great fighters, they aren't three of the greatest fighters in history, because looking great is not the sole criteria for being a proven great.

Truly, truly great fighters look great against consistently strong opposition, with some great opposition mixed in as well.

At 140 & 147, if Floyd had reached 41-0 by beating the likes of

, then he would "deserve more props".

As it is, he doesn't. He gets the credit he deserves, he doesn't deserve any more, because he has looked great against opposition that is not great, he hasn't fought and torched the best opposition available, like the elite greats did.

    :deal

He knows he is handpicking, but he is trying to convince people of small facts and ignoring the real issue. Marquez was not a legit fighter at his weight, and to be honest Marquez is overrated. He could never beat Floyd.

Even Floyd's noted cocksucker like MichiganWanker VecArrow Spud Bald_Dick and all of them *****s would agree with this but then again maybe blows smoke in their ears cause they all hate the truth. I'm waiting for their rebuttal :)

more so that he isnt undefeated,he lost to castillo the first fight, regardless of decision and the injury,he lost that fight!.

and anyway, all the best are not undefeated, the very best have losses, they had losses cuz they fought the best and you cant win every fight ever!.

the best fighters are the best by who they fought, when they fought them, how they fought them, and by how many great fighters they beat.

not how many fighters they lost to!.

floyd had/has the potential to fight the very best of his era and win still, and win well, but he doesnt want to have those challenges and to fill his potential.

hell the guy doesnt even want to fight 2-3 fights a year each year!.

You can deny Floyd is great because Pacquiao looked great beating great opposition like Cotto at 145, Dlh at 147, Clottey at 147, and Margarito at 151. That's why Floyd isnt great  Pacquiao is great, Floyd just look great:rofl

somehow Pac is from the same divisions as JMM and fought him before, so that figures to be a better fight just on both guys knowing each other. And the intrigue of settling their previous fights. JMM is not really a great fighter. He is Hall of fame, but not in the class of Floyd or Pacman.
