Roy Jones ducked Steve Collins

    Steve Collins was calling Roy out big time. A fight between the two could have been made easily.

    Calzaghe never ducked Steve Collins. Joe signed to fight Steve but Steve pulled out.

    Roy also ducked Nigel Benn.

    Roy clearly avoided the best.

    Who would have won if Roy had fought Steve or Nigel?

    Jones ducked a lot of people. With his fragile Glass Jaw I don't blame him.

    "Calling people out" means nothing, it's mere words for TV cameras and the sake of appearance.

    Steve Collins got butt****ed by Sumbu Kalambay, Mike McCallum and Reggie Johnson when he tried to mix it in the US market.

    He went home and picked off past-prime Eubank and shot Benn, making a shed-load of cash in the process and getting his hands on a world title belt.

    Should he go back over the pond and face the guy who trounced Reggie Johnson and an old McCallum?

    Or should he stay at home, making safe defences for decent money, against some of the shittiest challengers ever...

    This was what Collins was doing to try and force a fight with Jones? Please.


    Roy Jones fighting Steve Collins would've been like Usain Bolt racing Missy Elliot, it would have been a lightning-bolt against a parked tank. And Collins knew it. Better to stay at home fighting a shower of shite than go back to the US and get outclassed - again.

    He lost to all three and he deserved to lose all three fights.

    No wonder he didn't want to go back and mix it in the US market after he'd managed to grab some glory fighting past-prime names in the UK.

    Hence the reason he dredged up shite like Brown, Carr, Sellier and Cummings to fight, easy hometown paydays.

    Not the behaviour of someone who was apparently dying to make a fight with the world p4p#1.

    When Ricky Hatton wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather, he went to the US, fought a fighter from Mayweather's division, beat him, took his title, and then chased the fight. He legitimized himself in that division in Floyd's home nation on American TV, and then chased the fight.

    That is how you make a fight. Not hiding in the UK fighting a mixture of shot names and complete ****ing dross.

    I think Jones would have beat Collins badly. In fact I've had to argue that point many times with morons who know nothing of Collins career before Eubank and most likely don't know a lot about Jones.

    That said, Collins would have fought Roy in a heartbeat. No doubt.

    Idiot Collins priced himself out. He'd have stood no chance against Jones.

    Benn was horrendously bad in his last five fights - no balance. Jones easily.

    Every once in a while a clueless drunken British fan(rarely as honest as you, Drinker) passes by with a thread similar to this. I highly recommend you watch the LIVE in-ring interview with Jones hosted by Jim Lampley with Ron Borges, Steve Farhood and some other guy asking the questions. They all asked about Benn and Collins, BOTH those fighters were offered career highest paydays officially confirmed by HBO and they all turned it down. Eubank wasn't offered a fight because he lost to Collins at the time and Collins was the logical(if you're not too drunk yet) pick.

    Have you even watched the johnson v collins fight? or the kalambay fight? (which was in italy)

    i wouldn't say butt-****ed, he dropped decisions to the three you mentioned, but i wouldn't say he got demolished :patsch

    Prime SMW version of Benn would have beaten Jones
    S Collins got better as he went on in his career and seemed better at SMW than MW. At SMW Collins would have out toughed Jones.

    Still Roy ducked many top fighters for years, Michalczewski, Calzaghe, Erdei, Collins, Benn, Eubank, Tiozzo, Maske
