Now that Dan Hendersons deal with Strikeforce is up, will Dana bring him back to the UFC to take on Jon Jones? Assuming he smashes through Rampage in a round like most think he will. What do you think that Hendo brings to the fight except from mind-numbing power? We know his wrestling credentials, but is he going to be able to stave off the pure strength of Jones? It's evident that Hendo, at 40, is still right up there, and whilst he could probably still cut to 185 he looks strong at 205, and has destroyed 3 top contenders in a row (in accordance with where they'd be in the UFC, I'm not sure I'd called 'Feijao' the champion of anything) showing a canny ability to get his bombs up, and wily verteran tricks to turn the fight in his favour. Before his dramatic win tonight, Hendo was seen as a top 10 P4P ATG anyway. Can he go on to further boost his resume at the top level in the UFC?
Hendo had a public falling out with Dana which is why he ended up in SF in the first place. Can't see him making a deal when neither he nor his brand Clinch Gear don't see eye to eye with Dana.
The falling out was over money so if they give him enough money I'm sure he'd be fine. I mean he's already praised the UFC for improving the organisation and promotion of Strikeforce.
Of course, but Hendo has been pretty receptive when I've seen him quizzed on it over the last year. Of course, there is no chance of him getting Strikeforce money there. But SF is clearly on it's way out, no way is Hendo going to Bellator, it's either UFC or retire IMO. Exactly. I will say Hendo seems to make light of it here, from 4:11 to 4:46 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8klreSszVQw[/ame] He could easily pick up one more cheque fighting Mousasi, King Mo or Roger, or a rematch with Feijao. After Fedor he would probably make as much or even more money, so he might well ride it out until it's well and truly dead.
And? So has Josh Barnett and he's made no indications that he wants to move to the UFC once his contract is up. So what happens when Dana won't let him wear his brand? You are more than well versed with how the UFC treat's sponsors it doesn't like.
Barnett really is more trouble than he's worth though. I imagine they could iron out a few creases with Hendo. No doubt they recognise that he is a top notch fighting asset, and Dana is all about having that under his roof. Strikeforce will be assimilated before long, I don't see how that can be denied.
I want to see Hendo get his shot at the UFC again. He's earned it. You can't argue with his last three performances. Get him in with Jones and let's see how Bones's punch resistance really is.
Henderson's proving was against Anderson, and he was decimated I've said it before, and i'll say it again..... Anderson is the only guy who can beat Bones
Machida, purely from a stylistic perspective is the only man I want to see face Jones I wouldn't argue against Hendo getting a shot (it would be interesting to see the wrestler/brawler combination Jones has been facing taken to it's natural conclusion)
That's a dumb p-o-v. I'm as big an Anderson fan as the next guy, but stylistically it makes no sense to say he could beat Bones. The evidence just does not support it at all. Middleweight BJJ specialist Travis Lutter could take Anderson down and control him in their fight. Middleweight wrestler Chael Sonnen took Anderson down at will and dominated him in their fight. Now Anderson managed to pull ou the win both times because neither of these guys had the artillery to do much to him on the ground (even though Lutter mounted him and Sonnen landed a record of strikes on him). Huge lightheavyweight Bones Jones is bigger, taller, longer, heavier, younger, fresher, faster, stronger, more explosive, more powerful, more dynamic, more varied and just considerably all-round better than either Lutter or Sonnen. If they could take down Silva when they wanted to, Jones could do it in the blink of an eye at any time. And when that happens, Bones has some of the most vicious, brutal, fight-ending GnP ever seen in MMA. He will not settle for controlling and looking for a sub like Lutter. He will not unleash some of the lamest tippy-tap GnP ever seen like Sonnen. He will be trying to put his fists and elbows through Anderson's skull with every attempt. Trust me, this would not be a close fight, it would not be a competitive fight, it would be nasty to watch. I think Anderson Silva is probably the greatest champion in MMA history, but his greatness should not blind you to the fact that Jones is his nightmare, his stylistic Kryptonite. I don't think you've thought this through at all.
You intellectualise things to much Popkins Anderson is a freak, he would find a way to beat Bones, and id put my money on a KO
