Big difference, Ali shld never been allowed in the ring for his last 2 fights due to onset of medical problems - parkinson disease.
Don't talk ****ing ****. Fedor in Pride beat a much better striker than Dan Henderson in Mirko Crocop, and beat him on the feet. How the **** does Fedor losing in 2011 when he's years past his last win and years & years past his prime prove that he was overrated in his peak years when he was beating down the 2nd and 3rd best heavyweights in history (Nog & Crocop)? :nut That's like saying Roy Jones was overrated because he got stopped by Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson around 04-06, thereby completely disregarding how brilliant he was 1993-2003. atsch The Pride version of Fedor had a superb skillset.
I don't think Fedor is shot, and I think he can still be the top in the heavyweight divison, but he needs to stop relying on his boxing. Boxing isn't his strong point, and it's not what got him to the top. He needs to go back to his basics and rely on his grappling/takedowns/ground and pound. You can tell that his ground game has deteriorated immensely. He's been out wrestled, submitted, and just beaten overall on the ground easily. If that version of Fedor comes out, he's still a force to be reckoned with, but right now the Fedor that concentrates 100% on boxing looks utterly sad.
I just don't understand this opinion at all. A guy goes a decade of fighting the biggest and the best at heavyweight, and NEVER gets knocked out. Now he gets knocked out by a single shot thrown by a 207lbs man who is basically sitting behind him and so gets no leverage on the punch. How can he not be shot? :huh
The same Mirko that won the 2006 Open Grand Tourny in Pride and came over to UFC and got knocked out 4 times?
First, Fedor never had a great chin, he's been shaken up and chicken danced many times by short punches. And second you're only looking at the punches that's why. Look at the last sequence again. Hendo reversed (granted with the help of cage) Fedor while he was recklessly swinging and in a bad position all the while Fedor was in the dominant position. Old Fedor would never have been caught in a position like that(nothing to do with being shot). To me, it looks like he's just resorting only to his punches and forgetting the rest. When i see Fedor use his full arsenal and then gets easily beat, I will then think he's shot. I'm not saying he's still in his prime cause he's not. But imo he's not shot and fyi punch resistance and shot are different
I thought the fight was stopped early. Kongo got dropped twice and was allowed to continue and didn't recover as fast as Fedor did. But he is a warrior, imo he is the GOAT in MMA..**** the record..he didn't duck anyone and all his fights are thrilling to watch. War The Last Emperor
