He wins the Spinks rematch, then it depends on whether he retires or not. Impossible to say.

If Holmes had beter judges, he loses to Witherspoon and Carl Williams, and is not around as champ to fight Spinks. He got two gifts in those fights. His fight with Norton was also razor thin close win. Not robbery like other two bouts, but Norton fight could have gone either way.

Not true, plus it was only Witherspoons 15th fight as pro, plus Holmes would never give him rematch that boxing fans wanted. If He won so easy, rematch would have taken place

I agree with Bonavena. Larry can whine about the decisions he lost, but he won plenty that he perhaps shouldn't have.

    Let me get this straight.

You believe Holmes should have lost to Williams (because he was out) yet tho out he came back to win?

You think Norton beat him too and

You believe Spinks won the rematch as well???? (If so you are the second on this forum, the first now pretends he never said it after being ridiculed)

As for "you took the fight", that was utter BS fabricated by Spinks.

"The Homer" Holmes NEVER got a gift................. He beat---BARELY both "Spoon & Williams" on points....... Holmes was older and more skilled / seasoned.... He ****in' won...... Holmes did lose to Spinks in '85, but was screwed in the rematch of '86.... No doubt....

OH! Not that it mattered, but Holmes also edged Mo Harris by a **** hair in 1997, too.......

Lorenzo Holmes is a top-5 ATG heavy......... WORD!:bbb

Holmes had Don King as manager, andKing was up to his funny hair in trouble over stuff he was pulling. Holmes got away with some easy opponents as challengers due to Kings maneuvering with sanctioning bodies. Judges were on Holmes side, crying over decision
loss to Soinks is not fair unless the times he got decisions undeserved is discussed

Nothing much changes, other than he fights Tyson earlier (like he said in KO mag in 1986) "Show me you can kick my butt". Tyson would have done, probably mid-87, with Larry in better shape and the fight ending a few rounds later, but still well-beaten. Nothing else much changes. If there had been better judges at the McCall fight, he'd have lost by a bigger margin .

    I have done that anut...

It doesn't change my belief that, to score it for Larry, you have to give him points for many almost-landed jabs which were narrowly blocked in great numbers by the superb Robinson-esque guard of Spoon.

Holmes beat Spoon........... Spoon was great that May 1983 night in Vegas, but he was very defensive and didn't let his hands go enough on the whole.... Of course he had a great 9th round, but Holmes stood his ground and hung in there like a WBC champ is suppose to...... At best, Spoon deserved a draw, but not the win........ Still, a great 1980s title fight that many have forgotten.... Peace....

If anything, Tyson's rating would increase. Holmes would still be the champ when he destroys him, anywhere 86-87. You can bet that Holmes would win any soft touches he fights after Spinks and before Tyson.

That's true, & i'd expect Tyson to face Holmes in November '86 instead of Berbick. Which would mean Larry was 37, not coming off a layoff & Ring/IBF Champ. In fact, Larry's Birthday is November 3rd, so if it could be planned right, Tyson could fight Holmes in late October, while he's still 36 years old. Tyson didn't fight in October '86, his prior fight was a easy TKO2 of Ratliff in early September '86, so i reckon he'd be willing to face Holmes in mid-late October.

He gets Spinks rematch ... takes an easy fight next against a non-mover, fights Tyson in a huge money fight and still loses but possibly not so one sided if he is somewhat active ... after that similiar crap ..
