HBO should have given Calzaghe a HUGE deal

    Although Calzaghe/Jones did poor numbers, HBO should have backed Joe Cazlaghe. They should have offered him a $30 million deal for four fights. This would have possibly taken him to 50-0. Imagine seeing the best boxer of a generation reach 50-0.

    These fighters should have been offered:

    Hopkins
    Tarver
    Dawson
    Taylor
    Johnson

    Joe Calzaghe to fight twice in the US and twice in the UK.

    Mate,

    The BWAA voted Joe Calzaghe the 3rd best boxer of the decade behind Manny and Floyd.

    Talent-wise Joe Calzaghe is up there with the best.

    I'm not sure they'd make their money back and Calzaghe didn't want to face Dawson or rematch Hopkins

    omg! :) just so everybody understands, the calzaghe-kessler fight at the time was the lowest rated prime-time fight in hbo history. i'm sure they wanted to throw all kind of money at him after that. joe knew his time was up. he could not fool everyone anymore and was getting out of the game. when your best win is over a split decision over a 43 yr old fighter, you're probably not an elite fighter.

    I agree, they should of made Calzaghe vs Veit III, a classic Calzaghe fight.

    who cares? calzaghe was **** to watch. the casual american fight fan is not going to tune in to see some euro fraud slap his way to decisions.
