Everyone thought Lacey would take the 0 and he didn't. Calzaghe risked his 0 43 times. He never lost. Get over it.

Pascal wasnt worth **** when Calzaghe retired.

Ward wasnt worth **** when Calzaghe retired.

Froch was only just stepping upto world class when Calzaghe retired.

Your pretty delusional if you think Calzaghe was afraid of Pavlik, wish Calzaghe had got to Pavlik before Bhop.

Another fighter i wish Calzaghe had beaten before he retired, Dawson struggled with the pressure Pascal put him under... how an earth is he going to deal with the pressure of Calzaghe.

We'll see when Joe makes his "short" comeback in the next year or so. Crack is expensive and has emptied many a bank account. :good

He quit because he had beaten the top guys at LHW and SM at that time, and because he hade made enough money. + he was around 36 or something like that. It was a good time to walk away.

would i have liked to see him continue? sure but he went out at the right time for himself. guys don't need to continue til they get beaten or ko'd if they had a good career, towards the end he beat who was supposed to be a monster in lacy and then beat who all said the best guy in the division kessler, then took out the top two names out there hopkins/jones, he was up in age, saw his hand issues, his bank account, his career and finished on a high note, good for him.

He did not want to disgrace himself like the disgrace Roy Jones and the disgrace Holyfield.

You forgot to mention, Hopkins, but you sir, are correct. Had Joe hung around, he would have been just like Jones. :yep

He Retired at the right time, he knew himself his physical attributes were starting to leave him the only fights left for him would have been Hopkins 2 when the 1st one was boring or Dawson who cannot sell a ticket and nobody outside of hardcore boxing fans know who he is.

He could probably see the new era of super middles on there way up aswell (Ward,Froch,Direll,Bute) so if he had not retired when he did he would have been pretty much forced to fight for another 3 or 4 years.

Hopkins is able to fight on in his 40s partly because he has lived a very clean life for the last 20 years but more importantly he has a low punch output, defensive technical style whereas Calzaghe had a style all based around hand speed and stamina which is not a good style for an old fighter.

Seems the Pro-Calzaghe fans have resorted to double and triple dipping in the poll to taint the results. Like their favorite boxer, they cheat.
