Why is Calzaghe considered a ducker?

I also thought Calzaghe would have been better served to move up to lhw far sooner than he did.

 

Sour grapes is what it all comes down to. Nobody can accuse Calzaghe of ducking anyone.
Ignorant people site G Johnson as Calzaghe pulled put against him more than once but Calzaghe pulled out 3 times before fighting Sheika who beat Johnson in his fight before Calzaghe, and Calzaghe pulled put before facing Lacy and look how those fights went .
When Calzaghe was ringside with a view to fighting Johnson, Johnson lost to Woods, so Calzaghe didnt duck Johnson, Johnson lost and blew his chance.
Remember Tate pulled out and retired so Pudwill was a short notice replacement, they forget that.
Remember Echoles pulled out and retired so McIntyre was a short notice replacement, they forget that also.
Collins backed out
Hopkins backed out
Echoles backed out
Tate backed out
Taylor backed out

But lets not pretend this is true and call Calzaghe a ducker

 

Believe it or not, Americans actually have to pay for this short term benefit. It isn't permanent and free like it is in Europe or Israel.

 

My feelings are so hurt at someone who disagrees with me about Calzaghe, one the most debatable fighter on this forum.

 

This is why you have a huge poverty problem, which for a super power is disgusting. Kids growing up in complete poverty as bad as any in a Brazilian Fevela! Also it's why you have a gun problem, drug problem, obesity problem, prison population problem etc etc.

I love the States, it's a great Country, but to say "no welfare" like you should be proud of it and it creates some great society is ignorant.

Don't feel bad. The US finances Welfare in both Europe, as well as Israel. Because of the USA, Israelis can go to higher education schools for free. We are the gift that keeps on giving, even with spending cuts. :yep

 

no. cos by that point he was a much much bigger name; able to headline his own cards & get decent tv deals rather than fighting on undercards or in tiny halls. he was fighting guys low down on the totem poll because he was massivelu under-appreciated by the general public (meaning that there was no money in fighting him) partly because he was a bordeline recluse & never promoted himself like hatton did...& he was viewed as a very dangerous fighter that promoters didn't want to put their guys in with; unless they got a nice reward...

when he was worth something to fight...ie later in his career when he was a money fight...he was able to get fights. when guys like brwer, mitchell & reid were champs; they wanted nothing to do with him. when they had nothing to lose...they chased him & he immediately got in the ring with them.

From that date on it was Sobot, Ferreyra, Reid, Thornberry, Starie, Woodhall, McIntyre and up until 2002 ( that is five yeras later ) I just give him credit for having faced Sheika and... Woodhall and Reid...Then, he still faced Pudwill, Jimenez, Mkrtchyan, Salem and Veit twice, Ashira and he just started doing something by facing Brewer in 2002 and Mitchell 2003. The Lacy-Kessler-Bika-Kessler-Hopkins ( first time in the US)-RJJ is a period that goes just from 2006 to 2008.

 

Why do you think the US budget is so large. We send money to Russia, Israel, mexico, Brazil, Poland, Moscow, Egypt, and other every single year. These amounts are in the Billions of days.
For example, we give Israel $8B of welfare payments every single year for the last 20-30 years.:yep

 

i know what you mean, it just doesn't compare with some of the monsters that got thrown at hopkins, jones, and toney after they became established world champions
