comparing that version of Ali to Fedor is a laughable. Ali was old and braindamaged. Fedor is like 33 / 34 years old and healthy. Give me a break dude. All this past prime / old talk is just a cheap cop out. He sure as hell didn't look old and past it when he knocked Brett Roger's ass out with one punch. He didn't look old for the first 20 seconds of the Werdum fight before he got subbed. He didn't look great in his last two fights though. If you wanna make an excuse, blame it on lack of focus or something. There's more to it then what your putting on. Fedor has looked very vulnerable in the past as well, in his prime. The guy was never invincible like his fans made him out to be.
Stopped reading here. The comparison is valid. If i were you id watch his career before commenting. As for making excuses learn to read. Iv never once implied he was invincible so lord knows how you managed to extrapolate that from any of my posts.
^ i didnt say u said he's invincible ,but a lot of ppl made him out to be . That's why i called him overrated. And no that comparison isnt valid. Ali was completely shot and BRAIN DAMAGED when he fought holmes. Fedor is no where near that point.
Irrelevant. Both are/were at the end of their careers and on a physical decline. In addition if you want to be semantic Ali was not brain damaged. He did though show the initial signs - as could be seen from his interviews - of the debilitating brain disease that he has now. The comparison is valid. Plus both are seen as the GOATS in their respective sports.
Bull****. Fedor is nowhere near physically shot. He may be something declined from what he was, but he isn't losing fights because he is an old man. He's losing them because he's coming in undertrained and unfocused against top competition. His physique was rubbish against Hendo and he had no gameplan at all. It looked for all the world like he wasn't even trying. He looked like he wanted to be out of there in one round, win or lose. :hat
In a fight that was originally agreed to be a 220Ibs Catchweight and was subject to rumours of still being such up to fight time.
Yeah a few guys post that after the weigh in results came in. I guess if he could cut the 3 pounds then any notion he could make LHW at this point would be tough to argue
He`s past it now, there never was a better technician on the ground than big Nog & Fedor defeated him in clear fashion twice AT HIS BEST if you know what that means. Fedor is without doubt the greatest MMA fighter of all time, the only ones that are silly enough to dispute this are you & that ****** dana white, we know what his agenda is, I have no idea what your is tho.
You can't tell me he was properly trained and prepared for Henderson. That much was clear before the first round began. :hat
To me I don't understand why anybody argues that Fedor couldn't make 205Ibs. He quite clearly could do - in 2011 he has the frame of a medium sized light heavyweight. Now did he make the right choice to fight heavyweight in his heyday - you bet! Fighter bigger guys gave him the edge in speed, stamina and coordination and the lack of great superheavyweights meant against the best he was never at a significant weight disadvantage. In the modern game that isn't true - whatever you think of the technique of fighters such as Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez they're clearly superior physical speciems than someone like Nogueria let alone a Mark Hunt or Zuluzinho. Someone like Fedor is now giving up even more size and without the old benefit in speed, coordination or even stamina.
Do you think his training methods have kept pace with developments in the USA? I mean his brother (who to be fair has fallen out with M-1 and so is by no means likely to say anything nice with those around his Fedor) has criticized the lack of specialized advice giving given to Emelianenko in the ring and the lack of urgency in the training preparations. To me (as somebody who picked Henderson) the shocking thing was just how little Emelianenko was able to do in the clinch. Emelianenko's judo/sambo background should have meant he had the ability to at least resist being controlled by Dan like that.
