I miss the time when the heavyweight division had world class fighters in it. I cannot remember the last time i saw two elite heavyweights fight in the squared circle

 

No one boxes in the U.S. anymore because no one really cares about boxing. The great HWs are power forwards/small forwards in the NBA or linebackers/tight ends in the NFL. The U.S. has so many amazing athletes that would probably put the Klits to shame with their combination of natural talent and skills but it's just the way it is. They are in other sports. So boxing is litered with second class athletes.

You can't become great based off of being able to run a 4.3 in the 40 or having a 40 inch vertical, but I'm sure it'd be easier to make a champion out of an NBA player from a young age than Eddie Chambers

 

Face it, the HW division is dead and has been dead for the last 10 years.

Except for the very devoted die hard fans, Americans are actually content to let it stay that way and allow Russia to produce second rate steroid laced champions and have their time making irrelevant fights.
It won't be long until Don King is completely out of the picture and all there will be is the second rate, Bob Arum, and GBP.
Once Mayweather and Pacman retire for good, even the lesser weight division will be somewhat lacking. Don't blame America for the death of boxing. Blame all those Russians and Europeans immigrating to America, joining the Republican party and making choices that overall affect the future of boxing.

I am from former soviet union and I love boxing. I've loved for about 12 years now, and every year I enjoy it more and more.

Heavyweight is not dead. You just can't become a champion if you're fat, undisciplined, and have no devotion, i.e American. *PS this DOES NOT translate to american fighters from lower weights, i.e legends like Winky, Floyd etc

 

That punch to the Jaw from Barret really injured him. All way into a clean KO.

Fields was injured prior to the training camp for the Barrett fight. Trust me, the guy was the goods.
