Which fighter(s) do you like

Gary Russel is from B More.. so he is naturally gonna be a fav of mine .... but I think PR fighters are warriors and ever since Tito.. i find myself rooting for most of them.. except Ivanboy.. (I don't know why I could never root for him)

 

Don't have to apologize bro haha. Them two plus Rigondeaux definitely sold me on their amateur system. I mean, they're the only country that can boast three boxers (or even athletes I believe) to win three gold medals!

 

Ward's moniker bothers me - but not as much as his ugly fighting style does.

I do support Berto partially because of his S.Fla origins and his Haitian descent; (some of my best friends are Haitian.) My fandom comes primarily from his explosive style and fast hands, though.

 

I root for all Californians(especially SOuther Cali) and Mexican Fighters(most of the time).

 

When you don't knock people out fans are going to find every which way possible to make an attempt to denigrate, discredit, and embarrass you. Naz Hamed went off on a rant about Allah during a post-fight interview on one occasion (maybe more). Why isn't there an outcry about that? Sure, he received a few negative comments about it but it's not to the same degree of flak Ward sees. I have contempt for overly religious freaks who shove their beliefs into people's faces but Ward is not one of them or at least doesn't come off as obnoxious or overbearing. I just think his moniker is painfully corny. Doesn't and shouldn't bother me.

 

I'm a huge fan of Bute because he is from MOntreal and I like his ability too but even though Ward is his rival I prefer Andre Ward. It's sad how many people will automatically put someone's views on a fighter down to something like race or hometown bias; and as a result have completely legitimate points on what happens in the ring go completely over their heads because of that.


cheering for your hometown fighter is no different than someone from Dallas being a Mavericks fan it doesn't mean he doesn't understand the sport or thinks his team is magically the best, he just wants them to succeed and it's all in good fun.

 

I root for Mexican fighters which is completely illogical given the fact that I'm eastern European.

With Calzaghe, Rees and Cleverly I always point out their weaknesses but with Enzo I always find myself saying : "if he didnt have that ****ing chin", its the same as the Americans with Paulie "if he only had a ****ing punch"

id support an irish fighter nearly all the time. Im not fanatical like Calzaghe fans though and dont think Steve collins would knock out Ali or anything.

i do think Wayne McCullagh had one of the best chins ever though, had to laugh at Morales face after some of the shots he hit Wayne with.

 

also dislike a lot of british boxers and their fans because of their blind following of their athletes.
An english friend of mine bet me fifty quid Hatton would knockout Mayweather!!! ahahahahaa this guy also thinks Calzaghe is the best ever!!!!

also hated Khan for cherry picking smaller fighters and his name being the only name on the title for a fight. anyone remeber the Presscot fight it just said KHAN. no mention of his opponent!!!

i have to excpt Khan has proved me wrong and i say fair play to the lad coming back from loss like that. anyone who cant see hes improved is an idiot.

 

exactly. I never cared for any of that stuff. I know a lot of my friends tend to do this and follow a guy from the same area, I do not.
