I don't think anyone would argue that 135 was Mayweather's best weight considering that his KO ratio was 25% and he went 3-1 in the eyes of most. Fighting Marquez at 147 is little indication of what would happen at 135.

To make a comparison if Pac knocks Marquez out in a few rounds at 144 (which I doubt will happen) that's not an indicator that he would do something similar at FW or SFW. Boxing doesn't work that way.

When i read this post i think that it was a joke. It seems that still are people who are dumb or don't understand that Floyd Mayweather is unbeaten. They tryto realize this imaginary scenarios where Floyd is beaten by who???? Floyd did not beat Marquez because Marquez was old or out of weight, and did not bully Marquez using his body. He beat soundly Marquez because he is super much more talented than Marquez. Dont take me wrong Marquez is an awesome boxer, and has beaten he super Pacman twice but Floyd is the best boxer all time period. After he retire and this stupid **** pass away, his legacy and his talent will be appreciated. Nobody ever has the complete package that Floyd has including Ali, Sugar Ray leonard nor Robinson. Then why you need to imagine something that already happen? The only answer is that you are one of the *******s or the anti-Floyd that try to beat Floyd in your dreams because there has never a human being capable of doing that and you need to rely in imaginary scenarios. This post is stupid and pointless. 69 punches in 12 rounds, what else you need to imagine...

In the eyes of most? 3-1?

Sure.... Just saying it is impossible for you to decide what the majority of boxing fans around the world think. Should leave the conjecture out. A lot of people also think Floyd won a close fight. Just say YOU* think he went 3-1 and be done with it.

Marquez couldn't land a punch on Mayweather in their fight. What changes at 135? And please don't say "Well Marquez was faster at 135." So was Mayweather......

well for sure but going on what I've seen on ESB a majority have Castillo winning the first fight.

It doesn't work the way you're suggesting either. We all know styles are the most important aspect of determining the outcome of the fight. Marquez is a counterpuncher. He would be going against another counterpuncher who's smarter than him and better than him in just about every category. That's a reciepe for disaster for Marquez. You look at that fight they did have, Marquez was totally confused. You can't blame all of that on the weight. He was throwing 4 and 5 punch combos and hitting nothing but air.

How Mayweather perfomed against Castillo is completely irrelevant as he and Marquez have two completely different fighting styles. Castillo was much bigger than Floyd, had a big punch, and was used to fighting a pressure style. That's not Marquez's game, so I'm not sure why you're even bringing up that fight.

According to most, Pacquiao is 0-1-1 vs Marquez

actually most polls on ESB have those fights as really 50/50 and actually I think that most have the first one as a Pac victory.

Castillo won 4 rounds at best. And Castillo is twice the fighter of any fighter Marquez has fought at lightweight.

A further indictment of Marquez being a match for Floyd at 135. Being a slow starter.
He's KO'd 2 also rans in Juan Diaz and Katsidis, and a washed up fighter in Joel Casamayor. Not much of an accomplishment. Jose Luis Castillo beat a fresher version of Joel Casamayor, and would have brutalized Diaz or Katsidis.
Marquez said Mayweather didnt hit has hard as he thought he did. He did say that he was faster then he thought he was.

Mayweather would outclass Marquez with his speed and technique. As he did at 146.

If you believe their WW fight was a good enough indicator of alternate match-ups at more even physical time periods & weights, you are not to be taken seriously as a boxing fan.

Here's the thing though, at 135 , Marquez is still the smaller man. Not only that, but Mayweather was like 25 years old at that weight and right in the middle of his prime. Marquez was in his mid 30's at 135 and on the slide. And while the size difference wouldn't be as great, Mayweather's age, reflexes, speed(both foot and handspeed), and timing advantages would be greater. We'd also have to assume he would be an active fighter, and not a guy coming off a 2 year layoff.

Oh I agree with you. 135 Marquez is already competing against bigger men and past his physical prime, for sure, and that version of Floyd probably takes a decision. But those reasons are completely different than pointing to what happened at welterweight in 2010, and people referring to talk concerning even lighter weight classes just bunch it all together as a simplistic collection of details that don't matter, and just refer to their actual fight. That is what I dislike.

Mayweather outclassed Marquez with speed and technique at welter.

Please tell me where at the weight Mayweathers size was a factor. You could say Marquez was a smidge slower, but Mayweathers nowhere near as fast and active as he was at 135.

The welterweight fight showed us everything we need to know in the skill gulf between the 2 fighters.
