Floyd said he was 146 against Molsey. Why should a jr welterweight fight a Middleweight ?
At 154, yes. At 160...Thats insane. Kinda like having Pacquiao at 154 against Martinez.

If floyd beats them 3 he would be up there with the best WW's of all time.

I wouldn't say so. He's wasted a lot of time since the end of 2007, when the division was strong. Beating Pacquiao would if course mean a lot, as both Manny and Floyd are ATGs. But Ortiz and Khan? Good young fighters, but WWs like Cotto, Margarito, and Williams back in 2008 were better.

I suppose you could argue that Floyd not fighting Cotto would ultimately make beating Pacquiao mean a lot more though, since Cotto is by far Manny's best win above 140 and people ceased to look at Manny as this small guy who was too small for the WWs.

Statistically speaking I don't think that's possible; the options are mutually exclusive.

Either he's already fulfilled his potential.

    Or

He you fulfil his potential by defeating these 3.

    Or

Even beating these 3 would not fulfil his potential.

I don't think anyone would argue about floyd being above pac if floyd beat both pac and martinez. Anyone suggesting these two victories would only put floyd on the level of pac isn't really worth debating with imo.

Depends on who you ask. Casual boxing fans will say no. They only seen four fights from him so far

(Oscar, Hatton, JMM and Mosely ) and since they want more out of him they will say he aint ****

If you're a fan of the sport you wont mind Floyd getting that respect as top ATG boxer.

However if you're a **** or Dan Rafael. Floyd Mayweather dodged the top level competiton from Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Malcolm X, Duran, Brittney Spears, Randy Watson and the entire cast of Mad Men and wont be happy until he takes a loss, becomes " Humble " and they can put to bed their hating ways of a man they want to admire but couldnt because of hatred, racism or whatever bothered them that day

Hmmmmm actually I think the casual fans are happy with him because that's who buys his fights and sees him in action with no context and as such are amazed. When I was a casual fan I was amazed by floyd. Becoming hardcore I realised there are a good few who've done more.

However this trio will satisfy me and I can safely call him top 15.

Had he fought 1 meaningful guy instead of ndou, sosa or brussels he'd be a lot higher already. Again in 5 years time if he'd have fought a meaningful guy instead of retiring. Well now he has the chance again, and i'm gonna believe he will try and take it.

I think asking PBF to fight all those fighters AND Martinez is too much. It'll never ever happen at 160...maybe 154.
Honestly just with Ortiz/Pac..thats enough with me

martinez elevates him to a level i don't currently believe he's capable of.

khan is crucial because he's the best LWW in the world plus he's got a big future. ortiz is crucial because he's the 2nd best WW in the world and has a big future. obviously pac is vital because he's the king right now.

    The opportunity passed him already.

He could have fought Cotto, Margarito instead of retiring.

Lost moments that can't be replaced by fighting Khan and Ortiz.

The closest thing to being on track is fighting Pac but then there is the OSDT, the 100 million dollars etc. So, in other word, you might as well forget it.

As to how high? He is probably top 2 in the 130 division. His resume in other divisions are just not spectacular.

Do you want me to rate him based on what he actually did or based on what most *****s rate him - his potential to be great? Because if we use the latter, then Joan Guzman would definitely be at top 100 ATG.

Pac, Khan, Cotto or Marg if still relevant and Martinez, while still remaining undefeated will put him up there with greats.

You rate him however you want. It sounds like you rate him more than me however. I think these 3 would leave him with a legacy befitting his early potential. You seem to think he still won't have done himself justice, fair enough.
