Some of Ali's opponents are seen as greater than what they are, cause they fought Ali.

    Bonavena, guys like that.

I dont know if he's THAT much better than more contemporary fighters like Spoon, Mercer, and if he is, its marginal imo.

Idont anyone that says anything of the sort, I rate Mercer higher for sure.

But what he was, was durable. Which iswhy Ali gets creditfor being the only man to get rid of him. A good win, regardless of Bonavena just being a decent contender :good

I dont know much about past fighter read bits and pieces or watch when i have time.

Bit of a hypothetical question about Ali how much do you guys feel the lay-off affected him? Without it do you feel he would have beat Frazier with more ease or did Frazier have a style to always trouble him?

Frazier always had a style to trouble him, but the movement Ali displayed pre-exile was largely gone when he came back. His reflexes weren’t as sharp, he stood his ground more, and he was there to be hit due to his porous defence.

So, allied with a small, mobile and aggressive guy like Frazier, who was great at getting on the inside, he wasn’t able to control distance the way he might have in his youth.

Briggs did not win. I remeber scoring the fight 116-111 for Foreman. I cant see anyway possible how you could score the fight for Briggs:huh

It isn't a statement or really controversial but it really annoys me how people talk about Freddie Roach when talking about his fighters, specifically "...but Freddie Roach won't let him do that". I dunno, it's annoying.
