I dont think you are giving Matthysse enough credit though. His boxing skills are above that of Maidanas along with packing more power and speed. This one does not bode well for Morales. Morales does hold the boxing edge on Matthysse but the disparity between the two is not as wide as it was against Maidana.

I still hate Suliaman, but this is a far more acceptable fight. If you're going to impose record-breaking on history by making Morales the first Mexicanfour weight champion, at least make him work for it.

I'm hoping Lucas won't be yet another backroom deal victim, but if he doesn't knock out Morales, look for a controversial decision loss to him. If Lucas wins, I would love to see him go against Maidana next. I don't know if Khan will still be around at 140 to fight the winner, but I would love to see them move up to 147 as well and look at some awesome fights with Ortiz, Berto and Pacquiao.

As an added bonus, it would leave the primadonna Bradley completely out of the Pacquiao/Mayweather sweepstakes. :)

Fukin awesome. Bogus title, but if anyone deserves it its these two guys. Gotta favor Mattysse. I think he is slightly better than Maidana in most categories except for output. I think his one punch power is better also. Will be a great fight. I think Lucas will stop Morales though.

There aren't any problems with his legal papers. The WBC was feeling the heat from all corners and decided to do something to add some legitimacy to the title they stole from Bradley. The last thing they wanted was be called out by the HBO broadcast team on possibly the most-watched fight of the year.

yup..it's usually the other way around when fighters drop out

good fighter drops out, and a easy victory type of opponent is then picked....morales has too much pride :bbb

I can't believe this is the same EM who was written off as "SHOT" and damaged goods a few years back and now he's faced one of the top 140 lb fighters in Carlos and anther in Lucas back to back. Both Lucas and Carlos are monsters at Jr WW and EM's best years are behind him physically....it goes to show you that skills and heart are the last thing to go. I really though MAB would outlast Erik in their boxing careers.
