Kelly Pavlik is the former MW king, and has never lost decisively at that weight. He has fought much better opposition than Lucian Bute, and should not get less money than Bute for a fight against him.

Why was Kessler offered (much) more money than Pavlik to fight Bute? What has he done more? They both lost twice to top fighters. Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor twice - Kessler beat Carl Froch. I don't see toom any other high level wins on their resumes.

Bute does not deserve more money than either Kessler or Pavlik, and I applaud both of the latter fighters for declining to fight Bute for peanuts. Bute needs to look at reality: he has fought no one, and is only a paper champion. Kessler and Pavlik are (former) REAL champions.

Yeah...but what has that got to do with the Cunningham fight, on Showtime, This Weekend ?!!!

Oh yeah, and Martinez did beat the crap out of him. About as decisive as you can get, short of a KO.

He might deserve more, but getting on the winning track and fighting will get him the money he wants, not cancelling his fights. What is this going to get him? Bad career move. He was on the right track before this. There is a confidence issue here which has nothing to do with money.

Pavlik is great for boxing, and is at times good to watch. He is not Kessler, though, nor should he gets Kessler's money for a title shot at 168.

Cunningham was a tune up fight for Bute I heard he was only making 50 thousand for the fight vs Cunningham.

I would like to see Pavlik fight someone a little easier to beat the Bute. Pavlik did look pretty rusty his last fight. I think Abraham or maybe Glen Johnson would be a better match up for Pavlik.

Pavlik doesn't deserve any more then what they are offering. He has lost his big name and demand. When you do that you need to build yourself back up with some big wins. Until then he should be thankful for what he is being offered. He won't find that anywhere else.

Right now at 168 Bute has done a lot more than Pavlik, Bute has the belt and the showtime contract, he gives 40% of the revenu to Pavlik, Pavlik know this for weeks, he pull out of a fight in a 5 days notice and you say that Pavlik is making the right move?

    Weird

3 million for a FORMER champ?

    f that.

He'd be getting big dollars if he hadn't lost his fights.

There are very very very few fighters making 3mil+ in big fights these days.
Considering where Pavlik is now, I think 1.1million is HUGE.

He doesnt have a chance in hell making even half of that fighting anyone in USA right now.

:deal I was about to say that same. WTF is wrong with ppls say Pavlik deserves more???? What has Pavlik done at 168? Yeah he has a name, but he had ****ed up his name with the alcohol problems that he had. 1.1 mil is HUGE for Pavlik at this stage. Kessler deserves more than Pavlik.
