not sure about that... Will he get more money against them? DOes he really have more chances to win? I see Johnson being a nightmare... Maybe Abraham at 168?
I think Pavlik is still under 30 or just about 30 years old. I don't know how much of a hurry he should be in to make a million dollers in a fight that at this point would be likely to lose judgeing by his last fight. Maybe your right about Johnson being a tough fight for him right now also. I think a loss right now against Bute would be bad for his carreer not to mention the wear and tear a Bute fight could put on Pavlik. Pavlik should either cash out now against Bute a fight where I don't like his chances or take his time against weaker opponents like Abraham. If Pavlik can string together a few decent wins he might be in postion for a bigger pay day.
Stick a fork in him hes done..I had the Shobox fight already set to my DVR and was planning on watching it Sunday after I got home..I have a feeling Kelly is going to announce his retirement shortly..
kp is not ready to fight anyone right now let alone the road warrior. arum has all but said that kp is back on the bottle.
he should retire, he doesn't have it anymore..personally, i drink and don't care if Kelly does. I just think he peaked early when he won the championship over Taylor and has been on the slide mostly from then on out.
Well...good. I had plans this Saturday and now don't have to feel guilty about missing boxing (even though my excitement level for this card was about a two out of ten...)
What a piece of **** clown as move. Pavliks a loser, sucks for Bute more than anyone though, now who's gonna fight Bute, Kessler ran way, Pavlik ran away.....guess he'll have to keep his fingers crossed that the S6 winner will not run from him with his tail between his legs like Pavlik and Kessler did
Ultimately what you get paid in boxing is relative to your worth. Pavlik hasn't won a meaningful fight since 2008, suffered an imasculating loss to Hopkins, another decisive loss to Martinez, has been incredible inactive and had numerous outside the ring problems. He isn't a hot fighter anymore. On the strength of what he's acheived recently he's incredibly fortunate to be getting a high profile title shot and a 7 figure payday. Now instead of getting 1.1 million, "peanuts", he's getting what? he can think he's worth more but if nobody else is willing to pay him more then it does him no good. Now he's pissed off his promoter who may be done with him, no doubt pissed off Showtime who've had to cancel the entire card, creating a hole in their schedule and costing them money already spent on advertising, and finally his loyal hometown fans. Pavlik has been a rare guy to have built up a strong hometown fanbase, how many of them will say enough is enough after buying tickets then having the whole card cancelled because pavlik didn't think 7 figures was good enough? I fail to see how pulling out of a fight at short notice encourages people to employ him again but for twice the amount of money, which seems to be his line of thinking.
