It's a disease just like obesity. That is to say, a character flaw and weakness, and not a disease at all.

*waves to TitoMahawk the sensitive, self-pitying alcoholic's ignore list*

Kelly Pavlik is the former MW king, and has never lost decisively at that weight. He has fought much better opposition than Lucian Bute, and should not get less money than Bute for a fight against him.

Why was Kessler offered (much) more money than Pavlik to fight Bute? What has he done more? They both lost twice to top fighters. Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor twice - Kessler beat Carl Froch. I don't see toom any other high level wins on their resumes.

Bute does not deserve more money than either Kessler or Pavlik, and I applaud both of the latter fighters for declining to fight Bute for peanuts. Bute needs to look at reality: he has fought no one, and is only a paper champion. Kessler and Pavlik are (former) REAL champions.

Pavlik has done a lot in his career and I don't understand why people trash his record. The reason he lost to Hopkins and Martinez is that he had the courage to fight top opponents. I wish I could say for Bute, who is a cherrypicker wannabe. I hate to use those words, but at this point it's a fact. He asked for more money than Pavlik, a man won the undisputed MW championship. Bute is a paper champ.

Pavlik lost to Hopkins at LHW, and his loss to Martinez was a very close fight in which he had only one good eye. I thought Pavlik was going to get a hometown decision before they read the scorecards.

I would take Pavlik to beat Martinez in a rematch, if Pavlik were completely off the alcohol.

Quality is what matters. Sugar Ray Robinson demanded huge money from his champion opponents when he moved up in weight, despite having beaten no one at the weight class. I could list lots of other fighters. Quality is pound-for-pound.

Of course, Pavlik is no Ray Robinson, but Bute is even less of a Joey Maxim.

Pavlik has a better resume than Lucian Bute, and is more famous in America than Bute. Period. It should be a 60-40 split in favor of Pavlik.

All this bull**** about Pavlik not being "relevant" for over a year is meaningless. What does that mean? He had a booze problem and now he says he is back in shape. Why should anyone call him irrelevant? DHas he forgotten how to punch? He's still Kelly Pavlik, and therefore is relevant.

The chincheckers should be swarming all over this picture of Andre Dirrell and Lucian Bute...

Do you even know how things are done?

What happened is Interbox and Top Rank negociate, not Bute, not Pavlik. Then Top Rank pay Pavlik. So bottom line, Pavlik is not happy with what his own promotor gives him and now is doing this. It's your opinion that Pavlik should have 60% of the fight, I dont agree, but you can have any opinion, it's your right. But here, it's not Bute's fault, it's a problem between him and his promoter.

I think his own promoter know more what is his value than you, but if you feel you can do better, just communicate with Pavlik to be his promoter.

But the worst part is his contract is signed for weeks now. So Pavlik is at least an unprofessional guy doing everything to **** everyone. At worst, a liar trying to find any reason to pull out because of X (put the one you want here) reasons.

Sheeet! You hate the Brits, The Scots, The Irish, and 89% of the posters on this site.:lol::lol:

I think the Native American studies have proven that alcoholism is a genetic disposition. Exactly why alcohol is usually banned on the reservations.

Right around the time of this post, Showtime was already posting to their Facebook that they'd already canceled the card. :yep

So...it had to have been official for a while already (at or before noon eastern).

K first I used to train with Cunningham at a gym in Royal Oak Michigan. I was rooting for him and am pissed Pav pulled this crap. Now I don't know if he is an alcoholic or not but i am going to school you a lesson so read up MANG.

IF someone is an alcoholic it is a disease, just like diabetes, HBP or cancer. It can go into full remission and come out of remission.

"Btu but how can it be a disease, you just have to be strong."

Nub. If someone drinks they don't become an alcoholic overnight. No one wants to be an addict. However, if someone passes a certain point, the brain re-equilibriates and thinks alcohol is MORE needed than food and water?

"Well how is that possible Nub Nubly?"

Let me further Splain this to you.

Evolution exists. And one time in our feable little world, people would hunt for food and basically die because they didn't have the "withdrawal" of THIRST AND HUNGER. We do have that now obviously to remind us to eat. When we do, there are releases of chemicals that let us know "yummy thanks." That is positive reinforcement.

Alcohol releases MUCH MORE feel good chemicals in the brain; specifically at the GABA receptor site. Therefore if you drink daily, for a long enough period of time, your brain will crave alcohol over food and water and you will do whatever to use it. Logically you know it is bad, but you just CANT STOP. That is why good people do bad things in addiction.

That is why, if you and I were stranded on a freaking island due to a plane crash and I haven't eaten in days..I would MIKE TYSON BITE THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR LEG AND THAT....seems crazier than what an addict does....but we listen to OUR BODIES.

    Got it now mang?

Addiction101....thanks to teh Nub Nubly King.
