You know, I was originally appalled by the stoppage but on seeing that gif, it is clear that Fedor got rocked at least once and fell face first on the mat,

He recovered to his credit and could have recovered to the end of the round, but the ref had already touched Hendo because as we all know, Hendo will not stop by himself,

So I can't really be upset with the refs stoppage, it was quite a sharp one because you never know if a fighter can recover or not, but at the same time, one cannot be surprised that Fedor felt it was an early one as he probably could have continued.

I'm shocked the debate goes on after this gif. The limp faceplant + being unable to stand balanced = KO. I swear, you guys want the guy to be clinically brain dead before seeing a "legend" lose.

Even then we'd hear complaints about "premature heart stoppage!" :verysad:verysad

A lot of fanboys were (are) really invested in the "Fedor is superhuman" mythos. It's going to take them time to come to grips with the fact that he was legitimately knocked out.

  5. So Kazuyuki Fujita should have been the first one to KO Fedor, being rocked isnt the same as being KO'ed. Hendo was also rocked and covered up and recovered, why wasnt this stopped?

Is it that you along with the ref love to do everything prematurely?

Fujita didn't have Fedor trapped on the ground while he was pummeling him in the head repeatedly with power shots. A point that is irrelevant because Fedor wasn't just rocked. He fell to the floor limp and unconscious after taking a huge shot. That's why the fight was stopped.

Jesus people need to accept this stoppage and let it go. Henderson hits like a truck, and regardless if Fedor was out cold or not, he was in a position where he couldn't defend himselves and was taking big shots. The rules are you have to defend yourself, not you have to be conscious. He was trapped.

I dont think it was premature but I have seen fighters in worse shape being allowed to continue. Brock Lesnar being one of them.

I am a Fedor fan and have been sorry to see him lose his last three fights.

There was something great about seeing a modest, unassuming, ordinary looking guy like Fedor ("He looks like a bus driver") beating all comers, including fierce looking tattooed giants, for so many years. He was incredible, and I doubt his winning streak will ever be equalled.

When a sportsman has a career as remarkable as Fedor, it is hard for fans to admit that he is losing his edge. I think that even vs Rogers and Arlovski he didn't look like the old Fedor. Josh Barnett would quite possibly have beaten Fedor had that match come off. As well as decline due to age, Fedors level of competition since the Pride days has not been challenging enough to keep his skills razor sharp.

After too long gaps between 'B' level fighters, when he fought 'A' listers again, he just didn't have enough of the 'old Fedor' left to pull off the wins. I think that he would have beaten all three of his conquerors in his prime, Pride days...but I'm certainly not saying they would have been easy fights: Bigfoot especially would be a nightmare! Still, I do believe the Fedor who beat prime versions of Crocop and Big Nog would be victorious.

Fedor's style relied on just a couple of extra percentage points of reactions and co-ordination to make the critical difference between victory and defeat. It looks as if he has lost that couple of percent edge that made all the difference. Unless he can develop a more cagey, old veteran's style...we will sadly see more defeats like his last three fights. It's such a shame that he couldn't have done a Marciano and got out at the top, with his record and his legend fully intact. But that is such a rare thing. So very few warriors acknowledge their decline before it is too late.

As for the ref's stoppage, it is always a difficult call. You want to give a great champion every chance...but that can translate to a favourite fighter like Sakuraba taking too much terrible punishment. I also hated seeing Rampage smashing an unconscious Wandy with three brutal punches. That fight was stopped too late. I would have loved for Fedor to have weathered the storm and recovered to win...but I guess it was better the ref stopped it one punch too early, rather than one punch too late.

I think Fedor should study his last fights using his keen, analytical mind...and he will see that yes, he can still beat most fighters out there...but that it is time for him retire now. He does not want to become a 'B' level fighter. He should retire and enjoy the spoils of his incredible career. Fedor, you have given MMA fans one hell of a ride.

All hail to The Last Emperor!

really? like when brock was covering up, arms and hands in front of his face?

that's worse than being flat on your face, arms at your sides, palms up, and unconcious?
