First of all i think it was disrespectfull to ortiz to say such thing at a pressconference. But not surprising....I wonder what Ortiz gets for this fight.
I have no problem with Mayweather making the most,he is the PPV attraction, and bla. bla. bla.
But what about Ortiz?? I got a feeling he would do it allmost for free,so he could have a shot at Mayweather:yep But i hope he also got a big paycheck.
He brings exitement, heart, courage and willingness to FIGHT till the end,and he is talented too.I really don´t expect Ortiz to win,but he could be very wrong for Mayweather...Southpaw,KO power,handspeed....EVERYBODY can get knocked out:yep I really like Ortiz and his background history...BUT what is his purse????

Remember, Mayweather only gave Mosley a 23% cut.

This is ORTIZ we are talkin.

He maybe got 10% if he's lucky, probably about 7%.

I see Ortiz making in the area of 5 - 7 mil when all is said and done.

Does floyd really get 40 mil for this fight? I honestly cant believe it, thats so much for just fighting ortiz 20-25 would be way more logicaly at this point.

    Floyd 40mil up front
    Ortiz 3mil up front

Two records are broken. This is Ortiz biggest payday so far, and Floyd is getting the biggest guarantee in boxing history as of now.

I can see him making $40mil after purse/ppv revenue, etc. What I cant see is them offering him a $40mil guarantee. Then again, Floyd is known to lie/exxagerate his purses. He also said he made $70mil for his fight with Mosley and $20mil for his WWE appearance.

Considering he's not bound by a promoter, his power negotiating tables, and his various sponsorship deals, 40 mill sounds about right. Mind you, Floyd does bull**** a hell of a lot. His figures are always likely to be over the top.

Why push a dangerous fight with Pacquiao when he can make tens of millions fighting a Victor Ortiz? I honestly don't blame him. :rasta

Actually GBP is Floyd's promoter as part of a deal he made with them when they loaned Floyd $10mil prior to his bout with Marquez to settle some tax issues. They just let Floyd fly his Mayweather Promotions banner for good measure. Mayweather Promotions isnt even a real promotional company. They're not licensed to promote any fights in Vegas.

Do you think GBP is doing this for free?

floyd only fights in-house GBP fights since 2006. that's why expect floyd to fight khan next and not pacquiao after ortiz and after a long vacation in between.

I still think 40 mil is extreme, other good boxers make way less.
Ortiz made 500k for the peterson fight so thats a great improvement in less than a year.

Sorry I should have been a little more clear. He's not bound to a promoter in the same way that a Manny Pacquiao is. Meaning, GBP don't cut heavily into his profits like Bob Arum would. Mayweather is largely self-promoted, with GBP only on the side.
