Pavlik made the right choice!

And that's the biggest problem IMO. I don't have a problem with a fighter looking out for themselves financially given how many wind up broke, but there was a much better way for Kelly to go about it. I don't even necessarily blame him for feeling ripped off or played, but nowhere does he seem to show any remorse to his fans for things falling through. Hell, nowhere does he even mention them. And that might've been a good idea since he wouldn't have made the money he did in boxing without them.

He could've just taken the Cunningham fight as a "thank-you" for his hometown fans and as a low level tuneup. Win that, then get your 200k challenger to prepare you for Bute or Froch. Instead, he ruined his long-term earnings power because of what he viewed as a short term insult. It's the same **** that messed up Winky's career, and the same **** that'll mess up Bradley's.

 

Listened to the entire interview last night glad to hear Pavlik does not bend over for Top Rank for a million dollers. As for the Cunningham fight is there one fighter with a name as big as Pavlik's that would fight for 50 k? I doubt it.

 

He have to understand, that he doesn't command that kind of money anymore, since he decided to **** away his career, and pull out of fight after fight, then he wants to complain...........forget this bum, it's a shame that this novice boxer shot the Jermaine Taylor that beat Hopkins, it was fitting for me to see Hopkins do the same to him.

The Hopkins loss should have been the best thing to ever happen to him, but now he is scarred.

Kelly should realize what the **** he's worth. He's burning bridges. And his comeback is completely ****ing over now, goodbye career.

He will be absolutely LUCKY to even end up on a Friday Night Fights in the next few years. I was a huge Pavlik fan and now this has just turned into an absolute joke, it's ****ing farcical and embarrassing.

 

what an idiot..... does he not realize that those bigger paydays were years ago when his stock was much higher and that nowadays people don't give a **** about Kelly Pavlik and have written him off for the most part....the redneck chump needs to prove himself to be still a world class operator if he wants bigger paydays again, right now he's barely top 10 in his division and cannon fodder for the champs.... a million bucks for a title fight vs Bute that he's done nothing to deserve is way more than he should be getting paid. The guy shoulda been appreciative that Arum was even able to angle his has been alcholoic ass into a title shot and another million dollar payday he doesn't deserve. What a chump.

Also, the only reason Cunningham was included in the mix was because Pavlik himself wanted it. Basically, Pavlik thinks he can not only demand a tuneup from his promoter but that he can demand the amount of money that tuneup earns him as well.

If he ever thought he was getting in the realm of 200k for a ShoBox bout of that caliber, coming off an unimpressive performance against Lopez, he's even more out to lunch than I thought.

For that matter, mightn't he have inquired prior to a week ago what he was being paid? Seems most fighters make the effort to learn what the purse will be.

Pavlik is full of ****, lost the confidence of his trainer, promoter, television and fans, and probably ruined his own career. Sad.

You know that Bute in his title run has fought two guys that Pavlik has already knocked out, right? He deserves it more so than anybody else Bute has fought so far. And he is still a pretty big name.
