if the ring side doctor deciedes that a fighter can not continue then he has been stopped by technical knockout. it is called technical knock out cause he was not knocked out.

for vitali - the fight was stopped becuase it was not good for his saftey to continue, he would have been KO'ed cause he could not see the punches coming due to the blood dripping into his eyes. also lewis was starting to take control (again maybe due to vitali's lack of good vision).

TKO is the perfect explaination for when the doctor or ref stops the fight. we do not always have to see a guy knocked out.

TD is when they go to the score cards. TKO is one fight is unable to continue, vitali was unable to continue according to the ref/doctor.

LOL, only one group benefits from such a wimpish rule. Those who are known to cut and bleed.
Stop whining, the goal of boxing is, hit while NOT being hit. Don't get hit and you have no worries about being cut.

LMAO @ those who always need to "set the deck" to win.

Agenda aside, I find it hard to justify adding another layer of complexity to a system that suffers from refs, judges, and doctors that already can't consistently get it right. :nono

Boxers don't try to create cuts. Also, cuts don't follow a specific formula. Anyone can get cut from one punch. Thus, they don't really deserve to win as Lewis did against Vitali.

This is something that people just can't comprehend, it's not a true TKO victory. It was a lucky escape, end of story.

If a replay shows the cuts started by a butt, a scrape, a thumb, etc, only to opened up into a vaginaface by a punch then the fight should be ruled a NC and a rematch mandated, unless of course the fighter who caused said vaginaface was clearly dominating on the cards.

This is 2011 people, and the ref's cant see all angles. They do their best to enforce the RULES, but clearly they oft err on the wrong side of judgment.

there is a distinction in place all ready. If a fight is stopped due to an accidental head but it treated differently than if you face has been pounded into hamburger and your mom does even want to claim ya . . . get over it how man years ago was this stupid fight? VK almost got his face ripped off and almost lost an eye by the fist of LL.

NO. Whats next? A fighter gets his jaw broken in a fight due to a punch, doc says he can't continue, should we stop calling that a TKO as well?

Lewis TKO Vitali by the way, deal with it. What a great job by an old out of shape Lewis.

You mean Lenox getting owned by Vitali of course, right?

LOL! Didn't see much of a great job by Lenox. Unless being beaten constitutes a "great job" that is.
