" I`m tired to be a puppet" -title in ***********.com

Announced just a week before he would receive only 50 K for Cunningham and having only 20 hours to sign cumulated with 1.35 mil for Bute in Montreal and not Atlantic City determined Pavlik pul out, accusing his promoter that wants to cash in on him."fight with a southpaw for peanuts" seems to be referring to Cunningham fight.

Kelly The Ghost Berto doesn't realize he's in the rebuilding stage of his career. It's not about $50k or $125k, lefty or righty, it's about getting the rust off, showing face on TV and giving something to the fans so he could actually put something on the negotiating table bacause the Taylor fight was years ago and nobody remembers.

But what does Kelly do? Pulls out of the tune-up 5 days before fight giving a big fat finger to his loyal hometown fans, his promoter and the network that allowed this troubled and unreliable fighter on screen. And that's because of what? A false rumor of what Mikkel Kessler was offered? :patsch

Pavlik used the word "peanuts" regarding the Super Six as well, that he won't get his ass beaten for them. How does he look now as his name barely worth a million and the Kesslers, Froches, Abraham and Wards are making far more? Sorry but you put yourself in this hole and instead of digging yourself out you just threw out the equipment and told the helping hands to get the **** away from my hole, I'm waiting for the golden ladder. We had enough with the delusional Bertos, Pavliks and Bradleys and soon networks and promoters will too. There are dozens of Sergio Martinezes knocking on the door to give the fans what they want for peanuts and when they get in, goodbye Pavlik! :deal

    That's right.

All this comes from HBO guaranteeing millions to in house fighters even if they don't generate **** otherwise....

The now irrational, ongoing expectations from fighters are a direct result of HBO's financial gifts for numerous years previously.

Good take. 50K for a tuneup is decent bread when you don't have a strap to negotiate with. This fight wouldv'e been good prep for Bute, and had he gone forward with an impressive win, maybe he coulda got a bigger deal with Bute.

Now, it's back to the drawing board for him. Let's see what kind of offer he gets from the loser of Froch/Ward since the loser will definitely be looking to add a big name win to their record after the loss.

Hopkins exposed him end of story. And he did not add anything to his game after that loss.

I wonder what the unemployed and homeless of America and in particular Youngstown make of Kelly calling 1.35+mill "peanuts"

Im sure if Bute's handlers threw in a case of Budlight to the deal Pavlik would'nt have backed out.

so, pavlik, likely at the end of the road with getting headline fights paying in 7 figures, decides its better to not make anything than a nice mil...i dunno, seems odd

Well put, noob. **** economy, boxing in the 'other section', a career-beating recently and Kelly acts like he's freakin' De La Hoya at the peak of his career. :patsch

I say forget Pavlik, you don't even have to cross the border if you're HBO or Showtime, there's Austin Trout, a young and capable champ without delusional demands, put his ass on the screen instead.

This 'peanuts' talk is more than just dumb. It's insulting to a boxing fan.

Pavlik states he never had the contract for the fight until this week and they gave him 20 hours to sign it or the fights off, so that he wouldnt have time for his attorney or accountant to review it.

If thats true then I would support Pavlik on it. It seems ****ing stupid to me though that a fight can be booked, with a reserved venue and promoted but never have a signed contract until a week down.
