I notice there's no British fighters listed. I can't ever remember a top class British fighter quitting.

NB No one has mentioned the ultimate bottle job, ie Charlie Zelenoff

 

Roberto Duran's is by far the most famous quit. But I've seen a few local preliminary fighters turn their backs and walk away refusing to continue.

 

Erik Morales, 3rd Pacquiao fight. Clear-cut quit because he knew was outgunned and was going to take a severe pasting. In a weird way, it was Morales's own chin which made him quit. He knows his punch resistance is so good that he wouldn't get knocked out clean, so he knew he faced a hellacious beating. He opted out. So would I have done.

Didn't Nigel Benn quit one of the fights with Steve Collins? I can't remember for sure, but I think he did. Then again, Nige was shot to **** by that point.

The steroid cheating disgrace Vitali Klitschko is responsible for one of the most disgraceful quit jobs in Heavyweight title history. Probably is the most disgraceful actually.

benn twisted his ankle early on in the fight and tryed to carry on but ended up turning his back on Collins when he realized that he couldn't continue, so i wouldn't say he quit and dont blame him for not fighting on 1 leg, they had a rematch not long after anyway
