Dmitry Pirog and Peter Quillin (along with Glen Johnson) in the running for Bute.

Actually all 3 of these guys are a huge step up from what he's been fighting. I wouldn't have any objections to any of these 3.

It'll truly be sink or swim should he fight a menacing guy like Glen Johnson.

 

And i think Johnson will be the guy they will target, since he has the biggest name of the 3.

Pirog? That name came out of nowhere. Pirog is a boss, but I wouldn't like to see it - yet. Pirog should campaign at 160 and get some top 10 wins under his belt. I would love to see Pirog-Martinez in the future.

I'm thinking it'll end up being Johnson, which is not a bad opponent before he gets the Super 6 winner. Honestly though, I was hoping for Bute-Kessler, but that looks like it is out for now.

 

I think he could. Johnson is a gamer. I'd pick Bute, but wouldn't rule out a Johnson victory. However, even if he did win, it would be on points in a close fight; and close fight with Bute in Montreal = Bute win...

 

SO you assume Team Dirrell is ready and willing to fight Bute?

That's the one fight of the three that I don't want to see, because it will be so utterly predictable. Glenn will be game and pressure Bute but ultimately he'll get badly outlanded and Bute will cruise to a UD.

But I also understand them saying they want to clean 168 before going to 175.

They don't want to do yo-yo weighting which I think is very smart seeing how most guys are having trouble going back after going up (except for SUPER GLEN!).

 

Don't underestimate Glen Johnson, Bute has a leaky defense and a highly questionable chin, Glen Johnson only needs one good right hand to buckle Butes legs and he's not gonna let up.


Glen Johnson totally demolished his former sparring partner in Allan Green, why couldn't he do it to the fragile flower that is Bute aswell?

I think Glen Johnson has the style to demolish Bute.

 

Barring something extraordinary, no. I'll be putting some cash on Bute if that fight happens and the odds are fair. Johnson is the master at doing just enough to not win when it comes to these kinds of fights.

Bute has the exact opposite of a "shaky defense". Froch is a guy actually does have a shaky defense and he beat Glenn easily.

The dude's old and can't pull the trigger like he used to. Getting through with 5 or 10 right hands ain't going to do ****.

 

Dirrell doesn't deserve any decent payday whatsoever after his disgraceful dropout of the S6. This guy claimed neurological damage so he could avoid fighting Ward.

 

Glen Johnson buckled Froch on several occasions, and actually had a beautiful jab to the body followed by a right hand upstairs, in which.. by the way, he knocked Roy Jones spark out with.

If Magee can land at 35% with his left hand down the pipe on Bute, why can't Glen find the target at a reasonable percentage, and break Bute?

Seeing as Bute has a shaky chin and a leaky defense, I think this fight is very much up in the air.
