i wonder if KALI might snag a title shot after all.
he is at least more known than most of the other fringe contenders.

this is from the main forum:

oliver mccall has said that he wants kali meehan after he beats bert cooper for the IBU title, it'll be a unification bout of sorts given that meehan holds one of the two WBF belts. Ahhh, alphabetti-spaghetti titles, gotta love 'em...

But, to get back to the original point, perhaps Tua shld be WK's next open (presuming he gets past Barrett of course) he's ranked 3 or 4 by the WBO so is a highly-ranked name opponent, who shld be quite easy to beat.

with wlads chin a Tua left hook can, with a lucky punch, put wlad to sleep. if he doesnt get the lucky punch he has no hope of beating wlad.

the problem with alot of contenders is that they don't seem to have a great chance for a lucky ko shot vs a klit, yet they r neither any hope of winning on points.

at least kali has ko power to ko anybody if he can land a good single shot.

What Wlad needs is a challenger that can soak up punishment. None of these guys who have been floored should even be considered. Chauncy Welliver is the only guy up there that can handle taking Wlad's full on power shots. He is also the guy in the best shape with the best cardio of the group.

331 HW rounds without going down. Quadruple Continental Champion. WBO #11 but that should rise after he wins Sept. 26th in China. He is also #8 WBC to Vitali.

Besides Welliver having the best shot to press and hang with Wlad for awhile, he also has history making on his side. If Wlad is going to go Apollo Creed and grab a guy, it should be somebody who will make history and generate big time press. And that is Chauncy.

Welliver would be the 2nd Native American to ever challenge for the HW Title. His Trainer, Joe "The Boss" Hipp was the 1st. Hipp would be the 1st Native to both fight and train a fighter for the HW Title. And if they won.....my gosh, you are talking Hollywood Movie Time.

Nobody has a bigger potential than Welliver here. None of the others bring a streak, none of them bring history, and none of them can match the story line if they win. Welliver has the potential to make Douglas beating Tyson look like small potatoes.

If K2 had any sense at all, they would listen to the emails I have been sending them and contact Welliver for this defense.

Tua achieved plenty. But imagine what he could have achieved with better fitness, less managerial problems and an ounce of luck.
