I'm not going to lie in the hope it might make the sport change.

It's just not as good nowadays IMO :good

sportofkings I think you're overstating the importance of a few geeks in the Classic forum. Thats not even part of the reason nevermind a major one. The main problems with the sport...well...we've gone over them time and time again.

It isnt as good these days as it was once, I agree with you:lol:

Not saying that the fans of almost exclusive older boxing are entirely to blame, because the sport itself has to change if it wants to survive, not just the fans. I hope it isnt finished in 25 years time, but the fans, the fighters and the rest of the people involved in boxing have no one to blame but themselves if they do. Boxing is obviously killing itself is the main point I was making.

I have no doubt that the fighters, the coaches, the organisations, and the rest of the people involved in it are also to blame in a larger way. Just making a small point about it. I hope those errors can be addressed, but it isnt looking so good I admit:-(

There are really not that many people wallowing in the past. There is a few of course, but as a percentage of fans its very, very small indeed. Hence why the Classic forum is one of the less busy sections, and within the classic forum the percentage of people that don't follow the sport currently are pretty small.

Theres not a problem with fans of the sport we have, the problem is attracting MORE fans. To do that a lot of things need to change.

Yeah, just wanted to get my opinion out on the attitude of concentrating solely on classic boxing, not aiming it at any posters in particular. Attracting more fans is the biggest challenge boxing faces There are simple ways to get boxing back more into the mainstream and attract more fans, like having it on terrestrial tv/free tv, less phony belts, more willingness to fight the best around on the fighters part, and finding other ways to promote the sport. Since it hasnt been done for a long time, I am not holding any hopes of it happenign anytime soon though.

Yep, you got **** all chance of sorting the belts out. I mean getting rid of all the Diamond crap is somewhat feasible and would be a first step, but I don't think that would make a difference either because its the number of organizations thats hurts the marketing of the sport and fighters. The problem is fighters and promoters like the situation because they can pick up a belt and earn their share of money, they don't need a mega talented guy to be world champion and fleece people under the guise of a world title. And well, you're gonna struggle to tell the organizations they're done. What a great money making scheme, hardly any costs involved.

Hopkins talks on MMA, but also what he feels will help Boxing continue and help it preserve it's undoubted greatness.

^BH is a Fantastic Boxer, a very humble guy outside of the ring...always interesting to hear his views and he always speaks sense.

    i absolutely love B-Hop

he does be on an irish sports radio show at least 2 or 3 times every year, the man is hilarious, they generally give him an hour slot because once he starts talking, you cant shut him up, i swear i heard him rattle on for a full hour and the interviewer asked no more than 3 questions,

the word LEGEND is used loosely these days, but its the correct word for Bernard Hopkins!

Intimidates the **** out of people Bernard Hopkins. Rashad Evans was just agreeing with everything Bernard Hopkins said..........

I'm still abit disappointed the way Johnny Nelson, was bullied by Hopkins slightly during the ringside special.

Johnny Nelson is a bad man, could probably come back and win a prize fighter.

    Heard of Ray Mercer Hopkins..?

And I've got a feeling that James Toney is going to smash Ken Shamrock up.

Hopkins is a great guy, but talks allot of miss-informed bull****.
