its simple enough the lads that are on the big olympic grants have to go to the olympics or the iaba might not get the huge sums they have become accustomed to,Egan Donovan Joyce have all got a lot of money from the olympic council in the last three years so are being given every chance to qualify.
The money for winning junior international tournaments is pittance compared to the senior lads.
Ward and Moylette will only get paid next year for this years euro crowns therefore the olympic council will see the other money as money wasted,As to next week i agree ah sure we are not going to know squat till next wednesday afternoon.

has to be a matter of just working out a take it or leave scheme- was talking to Gerry Storey of late and he was suggesting that it is unfair for some lads to box off and unfair for others not to get the chance. but one rule just has to be made for all...

i presume the IABA should just ask the question, who has the best chance of medaling? not sure if box offs tell you that-was talking to a lad who reckoned he handed Henry Coyle his arse years ago but didnt bother entering the seniors cause he knew he would get beat- he just had a style that could be coyle!!!! one fighter might have anothers number etc.... basically there is no fair way of doing it and an arguement can be made against ever possible choice(bar paddy barnes probably)

Would agree with that but its too much for one man a three man committee Walsh of course probably o rourke cause he is the head man at the minute then one other Storey was mentioned earlier he would be great this **** of the central council picked the team is bull****.Clubs have nobody to go to for explanations.Walsh just tells peolpe its nothing to do with him the central council picks all the teams and everyone knows thats bull****.
Some accounatbility is needed for the disapointed athletes and their coaches

Cruise control or Murtagh mauling - Youth v Experience in Mayo contest

    http://boxing-ireland.com/20110805_darren_cruise_lee_murtagh_35.html

(two points to note on this one, 1. its the first effort by our snapper Kev's younger bro Alan - more Sligo Mafia! prap prap prap! 2. I like what Murtagh has to say about Coyle's "world" title "I'd rather fight for the Irish title" - nuff rispek!)

Is it me or are they randomly throwing blokes on the entry list under crumlin B.C.? Geraghty at 52kg was a corinthians boxer and Brian Brosnan at 69kg was with olympic b.c. Either it's a coincidental mistake or Phil sutcliffe senior has recruited a few new pugilists

I heard he picked 6 boxers that shudnt have 2 box off based on recent international performances, but was over-ruled. It's Billy who knows the lads most an who should have the final say

To be honest i know that a lot of the speculation is pointless but i felt the other day - when i first replied to you- that you were fairly dismissive of ppl talkin bout the box-offs in any context. Im not saying ppl should overly speculate, when the things they say could start pointless rumours. I just think a fair bit of speculation has to be expected on a thread like this. After all, it's fans simply giving their opinion a lot of the time.

p.s. I can see where your frustration is coming from. The whole set-up is a joke for the most part :good

Im expecting Sweeney to look a bit better now that hes at 175, rather than cruiserweight. 200 pounds wasnt suitable for him.

Doubt that would stop the controversy. It still won't stop complaints from those who think others should be on the team. It's a mess. However, lets face it, this is mainly because we now have too many talented boxers :nut:good

Exactly. Suffering from our own success... Same thing will deny people good enough to qualify for the olympics even the.chance to qualify for them... Its messed up but definitely the good headache as a football manager would say.
