Saw a thread on the garbage can incident and wondered could Bowe have beaten Lewis I mean early in Lewis career he was susceptiple and not as great as he was later Bruno out boxed him at times and McCall KO'd him then Steward improved him Could a Bowe who was more seasoned as a pro and beat Evander beat early Lewis Or was it all just mental, Bowe got stopped by him in the Olympics and then Lewis blased Ruddock to earn the shot, did that instill the Olympic fear in him im not saying prime 4 prime best verison vs best version but that Bowe vs that Lewis
Yes, he could though I wouldn't favor him to do so. bowe was a differant man than he was in the Olympics largely because he was much more confident and he wouldn't be facing such an experience gap if they fought after Bowe won the title. The disciplined Lewis of later years would have been absolutely poisonuous for Bowe but the often wild swinging pre-Mccall version could have found himself on his ass against Bowe. But still I'd lean toward Lewis by UD.
I don't think Bowe could beat Lennox. Not if both were prime. Lennox has the great right hand and more motivation to be great and fight better fighters. He rose higher than Bowe, and his chin wasn't necessarily better.
Unlikely, Lewis is the better boxer, can control him with his jab, faster and has the power to punish Bowe's wide open defense. Bowe had a good chin but never took on a powerpuncher like LEwis
well lewis did lose to mccall not long after the incident and later in his career, slap bang in his prime, he lost to rahman. so it aiont beyond the realm of possibility that he'd have lost to bowe. however bowe refused to fight him so we'll never know. at that time though, bowe would have been the favourite but it wouldn't be an upset if lewis had of beaten him.
He was very much complacent against both though, paying for showing both disdain Bowe got outboxed by Golota, Holy and a shot Tubbs
at the time Bowe fought tooth and nail with Holy in their first rematch, Lewis was being out boxed by Bruno
complacency, doesn't matter. he still lost fair and square. if he can lose to them two nhe can certainly lose to bowe who at the very worst had a punchers chance and at the very best had the combination of skills and experience necessary to better lewis at that point in their careers.
No at that time he was blowing Rdduck out the water who Holyfield avoided. And he wasn't outboxed by Bruno, he went 50-50 with him pretty much before stopping him and Bruno is probably better than Bowe's second best opponent
