Could Amir Khan be the next De La Hoya?

    No one should deny that Amir Khan is looking better and better, and could be the next big star in boxing (if not already). But I wonder how big he could be? Does anyone think he could be as big as maybe ... De La Hoya? Or is that a little too much?

    I dunno people have alot of respect for Oscar.... lets take this forum for example... alot of people here think Amir is chinny etc.. i think he needs 2 fight big fights where we can see what he is made out of. He hasn't hit his prime yet.... he he still a work in progress.... we haven't seen the best of Amir Khan yet. One thing we can't avoid is that Amir does have alot of talent. I wouldnt like to put Amir in the same league of greatness as Oscar was back in his prime days. Let Amir Khan be Amir Khan lol. :)

    He'll have to transcend like Oscar, Manny, and Floyd have. All 3 did it differently, but effectively. Khan says he has alot of female fans, Idk about that:lol:, but Americans are usually split with flashy, which attract the casual, younger fans, and fighters with substance, which usually get more praise by the older, more knowledgeable aficionados. When a fighter comes along and possesses both those traits, which is rare, all eyes are on them. People want to be entertained ultimately.

    If a fighter misses just one thing on a list people in their minds makeup to gauge a fighter hes not good enough. I think Khan will be big, but not DLH big, unless he fights somewhere in Dubai or muslim country. Then next time he fights in America not only will he bring UK fans, but muslim fans too. He could be big in America too he speaks English, approachable, and his name itself could sell. They just dont know how to market this guy. Oscar was a triple whammy because he appealed to Mexicans, Americans, and women. Manny is the little train that could, and Floyd... the me against the world attitude. Khan is doing great in his career, but as for his popularity depends on how they market him. A 24\7 would be great. When a fighter is becoming successful people always want to know more about them. Martinez and Khan being slept on Imo.
