Should Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 be for the linear welterweight title?

Marquez has been weighing as a welterweight on fight night for his last 5 or more fights and his only loss is against mayweather who got dropped for inactivity. Marquez is top 5 p4p and the LW champ with a good welterweight record as that should be enough to saction the fight for the linear title. Pac has proven to be the best by his legendary wins over Oscar, Clottey, mosley, cotto and margarito the super welterweight

Ortiz beat the brakes off of a reigning WBC Champion.

    Was that a serious question?:rofl

i'm asking this to ripcity. he thinks pacquiao is not a valid welter champion because he fought cotto at a cacthweight. do you agree with him?

Marquez has been weighing in at welterweight when he enters the ring on fight night and his only loss is against Mayweather. Compared to ortiz who lost to maidana and a draw with peterson:-(

    No. I do not.

Pacman beat Cotto above 140 pounds and below 147, therefore, a legit WW fight.

(the catchweight did "cheapen" it a little though)

A couple things (I feel like I'm wasting my time responding to an obvious troll, but oh well). Before your idea ever comes to fruition, here is a list of related things which make much more sense regarding the lineal welterweight title.

    1) Mayweather should have been given his Ring title back, which he never lost in the ring, when he beat Marquez. Under your logic, that fight should have been for the Ring title at 147, being that Marquez was higher ranked P4P then than he is now.

    2) Mayweather, the last man to hold the Ring 147 title, should have fought for the now vacant title when he took on the welterweight belt holder and #1 ranked Shane Mosley. Pac was ranked #2, Mayweather #3. The Ring rules allow for a #1 vs. #3 match to be for the vacant title. Considering they fit that description AND Mayweather is still in a lineal sense the welterweight king, The Ring should have "sanctioned" that fight. But they did not. So why the hell would they allow an undeserving #1 ranked (because he was #2 until his junior middleweight fight somehow gave him accomplishments in the welterweight division) and an 0-1 welterweight (who lost to the previous Ring welterweight king in that only fight, which was not for the Ring title) fight for the vacancy?

You are an idiot. That's normal.

Lightweights almost always enter the ring as a welterweight.

Welterweights almost always enter the ring as a middleweight.

As far as "compared to ortiz" like you say, Ortiz enters the ring weighing more than a middleweight. So Pacquiao will be fighting a small welterweight while Mayweather will be fighting a middleweight. Please respond to this, please...
