The reporter in this video says in regard to Vitali, "he'll delay his title defense" against Adamek in order to draw attention to the arrest. I don't know if "he'll delay" means it will be delayed, or that it's an option. If I were to guess I'd lean towards the first.

Oh come on now...it's well known that Vitali's heart runs deep fighting for the people of Ukraine. And the fight is not cancelled, just postponed.

If Tymoshenko were to be released from jail very soon (next day or two)....I could see going ahead with the Sept 10th date. I have no idea how likely that is to happen though...I do see pressure for the release from various governments, but who knows...

Here's a good article for those who don't know what's going on:

Why doesn't Vitali just let Wlad fill in for him? Seems like that was in the contract.

Adamek earned his shot, began his preparation, and has spent alot of money and time readying himself for this challenge.

Wlad should easily be able to ready himself knowing the possibility of a delay. The world wants a fight, and K2 needs to give it to us.:bbb

This is a very intriguing situatuion. I wait for official statements. I doubt that the fight may be postponed, due to the weather. In the second half of September it usually gets colder in Poland. Depending on how far the fight would be postponed, there may be a temperature below 10 degrees.

Actually I dont know what the contract says. If it says that fight MUST take place at September 10th, then I think that Adamek will fight Wladimir. However there is a clause that says 90 days before the fight Adamek have to know which brother he faces. Althought in the case of injury or any other random accident I think that then Wladimir would enter the ring.

If he wants to be a politican, Vitali should give up the title so Adamek can fight for the vacant one.

And after that Adamek can box Wlad.

I hope the WBC will strip Vitali. There is no need to go back to Kiew.

    Poor Adamek.

Thats true. However according to some news, about 85% of tickets has been sold. And the tickets are for certainly Adamek-Klitschko for the WBC title, not for the vacant WBC title against any minor fighter. As an Adamek fan, who bought a ticket, I want to see Adamek fighting Klitschko. If it cant be Vitali, then I want Wladimir.

Wladimir would be a fine fill in for Vitali, and Adamek said on multiple occasions he was ready for either. This can not be an excuse to NOT fight Wladimir. And I can't believe the toughest HW since Joe Frazier would back out of this fight if it's made.

IMO, Vitali should make this fight happen. It's his title to defend, and he could do far more inside the ring to help his friend than outside at this point. The american ambassador to Ukraine is lobbying for her release, which is far more than Vitali can do. Wearing orange trunks, and orange robe, and dedicating this fight, win or lose, to her release would definitely draw loads of attention to her plight.
In America, outside of the boxing "in the know", nobody even knows about this, but if Vitali were use his position as HWCofW to get airtime on ESPN, FS, and other global sports networks, he could preempt a global petition.

You think the WBC should strip Vitali for postponing a voluntary title defense? Your hate and stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

By that logic, Wlad should have been stripped for bailing out on Chisora twice. How does that sit with you?
