Whats the biggest gain in weight you have known during the days when weigh ins were on the day of the fight AND how it is now Was there/ Is there a limit placed on the fighters by the athletic commisions and governing and sanctioning bodies. I know there has been a limit in some big catchweight fights I know that the snactioning bodies have started watching guys weights in the weEKS leading up to there fights
Gatti put on something like 20 lbs in the Gamache fight. I believe Gamache sued the commission and won.
Jose Luis Castillo used to put on absurd amount of weight after weigh in's, so it's hardly surprising his metabolism got ****ed up.
Pazienza supposedly dehydrated down to 135 and hydrated back up to 155 in 24 hours according to Lou Duva for the 1st Haugen fight. I remember wondering at the time if that was even possible?
yes, i believe gatti put on 19 lbs that fight. that's the most i can remember seeing. gamache won the case but was awarded nothing. http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/gamache-wins-lawsuit-vs-nysac-42103
Yes but he didnt get much. I thought Gatti killed Gamache in that one, it took him like 10 minutes to come back to conscious. Brutal KO.
ruiz went from 226 at the weigh-in to 224 the day of the fight vs jones. that's the only time i can remember seeing that.
I read that Gerald McClellan used to put on 15 lbs. or so back in the day. Miss that guy, and wonder how far he could have gone.
