That's right, for a guy like Hopkins, it's not about the trainer. The trainer won't win the fight for him and a trainer can't beat him.

when you think about it Oscar doesn't even want Ortiz to beat Floyd.

Ortiz will never be as big a draw as Floyd is and for the last 5 years Floyd fights nothing but in-house Golden Boy fighters anyways.

It's not about his trainer as much as it is for a fighter who is less cerebral.

Even though it still makes a difference, Hopkins won't be beat almost solely because his trainer came up with a shitty gameplan, and he won't win solely because his trainer came up with a great gameplan either.

that's why unlike what you suggested at in your last post the strategic dynamic between Roach and Hopkins is different than the one between Roach and Oscar.

and like I said Roach did a very good job with Hopkins against Calzaghe anyways.

Freddie Roach is overrated as a trainer.

He is no more useful gameplanning then any other trainer in the game.

When you watch Pacquaio fight, he almost always goes against the instructions Freddie Roach gives in the corner.

Freddie Roach impact is basically making good mid-range offensive fighters, really good-great mid-range offensive fighters.

His fighters cant fight on the inside. And are poor defensively.

Given Roach's comments after he saw Mayweather dismantle Marquez, something he could never teach Pacquiao to do, it seems he was not as schooled on Mayweather as he should have been, and sent Oscar into the fight with Mayweather without properly realizing the talent Oscar was up against.

If he does, Victor Ortiz does not have the same capacity to carry it out as De La Hoya did for the first half of his fight with Mayweather. Different fighter, not in DLH's class. Doesn't even have a jab, style leaves him wide open for counters, can be dropped from single shots
