Actually on WBC site that is stated that this is a WBC mandatory fight. Vitali said on mupltiple occasions that Adamek is his mandatory and if he didnt take the fight he would be stripped.

It is an optional defense it wasn't even set in stone that it was going to be Vitali he was facing until 90 days before the fight. It could have been Wlad.
