Let's take a look at some of each man's biggest oppenents.. Hopkins: Jones 1, Trinidad, De La Hoya, Taylor (B-Hop Won both fights IMO), Wright, Calzaghe, Pavlik, way past prime Roy Jones, Pascal.. Mayweather: Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosely.. I think Trinidad in his prime destroys any of the guys on Floyds list except for De La Hoya whom Hopkins KO'd, Wright probably Beats all the guys on Floyds list as well and Calzaghe was unbeaten and I still think he slap shot his way to a pitter pat decision. That said Floyd defeated his opponents with much less struggle then B-Hop IMO due to his better reflexes, foot work and handspeed.. Both men are extremely well conditioned. Floyd does it make it seem easier but can he still do it at 46 like Bernard Hopkins?.. I think he can but ultimately.. we shall see..
Why would Floyd need to fight until he is 46 to prove he is a better technician? I don't base who is better because one lasted longer. I don't care who is more physically gifted. I look at them fight and determine who is better. IMO Floyd is by a little bit.
I didn't say he "needs" to fight until he's 46 to prove he's the better tactician.. I said CAN he do it at 46 like Bernard is.. IF Floyd stays active I think it's possible but who knows.. Floyd's a genius no doubt, so is B-Hop.. They're both excellent defensive fighters who use different tactics to outsmart their opponents.. It's a toss up really but for me, I still give an extremely slight edge to B-Hop as the better tactician BUT Floyd is the overall better fighter.
Totally agree. What we are talking about is tactics. That is all in the mind. It has nothing to do with who has better reflexes. It has nothing to do with who can fight longer. It's not even that closely related to technique. **** Daniel Zaragoza you could argue new his tactics really well...didn't stop him from having **** technique and getting hit up side the head a lot.
Hopkins is an anomaly. Not too many guys can do what he does at his age. That has nothing to do with being a better ring technician. Greater fighters have not fought as long as Hop has.
I think only one person has come close to answering this correctly; within the rules Floyd is the master . . . when you "stretch the rules" lets say . . . Bhop. The only one close to either is Toney
neither man makes mistakes, but floyd is like a mix of hopkins and roy jones jr with out the power or chin. hopkins does it with what at 46 yr old body and mayweather uses at 34 yr old body.**** you cant say less ee mayweather at 46 because he want fight that long.mayweather could be done by 36 thats a good way to retire in mayweathers case. age aint nothing but a number to hopkins and i think both are about the same but give hopkins a the edge because of his age only.
I love how you ******s act like Hopkins is winning fights purely on technique and tactics. Hopkins is still one of the faster, athletic, and fleet footed fighters in his weight class. I'd say only Pascal is noticeably faster, Dawson is around the same speed, and Hopkins definitely has better workrate and foot speed. Seriously morons, Hopkins didnt beat Kelly Pavlik with tactics. He just beat the **** out of him because he was faster and better.
