He's rude and lacks respect....he's not **** but should he even be getting a shot at a european belt after losing the british title....I dont think so. But thats the way it is....has the fight been confirmed? With regards to Sks boxing not being up to date...why shouldnt it be continually updated we the fans want to know whats going on!
You sir are an idiot, an olympic gold medallist and a british champion is '****ing ****' if degale is indeed ****ing **** what does that make paul smith? people come on here and say 'peter buuckley could actually fight' and then the same person will say james degale is ****ing ****, he might be an idiot but that has no bearing on his boxing skills
Well you've picked me to pieces! You're post may have been in jest, but the undertone of your post was there to be seen: degale is ****. I think it's fair game to challenge that. Why is it I dont have a proper argument? Ive stated why I don't think he's ****. If he's achieved what he has with all of these faults then he's got something about him hasn't he? His punching technique was awful. I think this has been rectified. His treatment of George was a bit out of order, but this does not contribute to him being shot does it? I honestly don't believe that what I've said in previous posts, in a small assessment of why he is not ****, makes me astoundingly dumb. I think what I've said is fair, as much as it's fair for you to say he treated George badly. I think it's short sighted of you to say hes **** based on his career to date. That's why i think you're just hating and not being impartial in your views.
I am looking forward to seeing Degale back, he is a brilliant talent who will definitely win a world title, at least. My only concern is the quality of his trainer.
I SAID I was hating! That was the whole point of my post. Haters don’t offer rational balanced arguments, FFS! If I did I wouldn’t be a hater, would I? Seriously, I think DeGale is staggeringly overrated (and to reply to JohnnyP, Paul Smith is utterly mediocre). His performances before the Smith fight were desultory at best. The opponents may not have pushed him but he was content to pose and preen. Against Smith he did a good job but exactly what was expected of him. All of a sudden posters on here (including the normally clued-up TFFP) started saying it was masterful and an elite performance. But it was Paul Smith. A good showing but Smith wasn’t even Euro-level. So, all of sudden he’s going to “destroy” Groves, acts like a complete dick (and some of that stuff was really pathetic – the bad breath thing… jeez… and then looks bamboozled by an elementary boxing problem when Groves doesn’t walk right in and trade. That hardly screams “quality” to me. The post-fight excuses have been hilarious in their delusion… “Groves didn’t come to fight” and “If James had just stepped it up he’d have won…” Groves controlled that fight by simply out-smarting DeGale. When DeGale did open up he usually got countered after his pitty-pat flurries landed on Groves’ arms and shoulders. And as soon as he got countered he backed off. I’d have more time for DeGale if I felt he was actually trying to get better. Instead he’s surrounded himself with yes men and the most awful trainer I’ve ever seen. He has physical gifts but serious technical issues that are being exposed at domestic level. So, while I don’t think he’s actually ****, I do think he’s really mediocre considering the praise he gets for beating Paul Smith. He’s lost twice to the best guy he’s faced. Until he makes serious changes to his style and training he’ll lose to the best guys out there. Can you imagine him facing Ward? It would be pathetic.
Ring intelligence is the most important aspect of any fighters game. If youre a bit dim then it does have an effect on DeGales boxing skills. Hes already shown it. So unless he has a trainer who can help him adjust when he needs to he will come unstuck against the best guys out there.
Who's saying he'd beat ward right now? Every boxer need continual changes however minuscule to beat another boxer. Degale made fatal errors with George, expecting him to cone out angry all guns blazing. He was wrong and paid the price. The manner in which he beat Paul smith was excellent. Smith was by far the best pro he'd faced. A man who'd never been stopped and only put down once in his entire pro career. It isn't far off to call his performance excellent based on how early on his is in his career and by your analysis how many defects he has in his game! Anyway. You've set your stall out, I've set mine. The confrontational shout from me was a bit ooo, but it snared ya! Anyway is this fight on or off?
In all fairness lads you all were kissing his ass after he beat Smith, now some of you are totally against him, a bit of fickleness if you ask me:thumbsup Its gone from one extreme to the other.
I never kissed his ass in fairness. I thought he was overrated then and still do. The Smith win flattered to deceive, as I said at the time. Smith is the same limited guy he always was, with tough fights against domestic level fighters. DeGale beat him easily but was expected to do so. He was the favourite in the fight. If DeGale had beaten Magee in that fashion, then Id have been 100% behind his talent. But he beat Paul ****ing Smith!
What's wrong with smith? Degale beating him as emphatically as he did was a hell of a statement. Smith might not be world class, but in many people's book that seems to automatically make you a **** fighter unless we are praising "journeyman" who do a great service to boxing!
Theres nothing wrong with Smith, except that hes weak, small for 168, and was struggling with some seriously limited opposition already. DeGale beating him was noteworthy, but it was completely out of proportion to hear elite-level performance alongside it. It was a good performance but exactly what he was expected to do. I just think hes a) a **** and b) not as good as he and his fans make out.
