Do you agree that Barrera was considerably further from his prime than Marquez was when they fought?

i agree chavez is greater than all 3 of them. I just think that assuming prime for prime he'd beat them 10 out of 10 is a tad ridiculous.

and i would confidently bet on him too. but we can't expect him prime for prime to emerge 30-0!

On second thought, I'm not sure about Lopez ranking among the top 10. I feel like I'm forgetting someone.

    i'm afraid not :-(

I think marquez was in his peak between norwood and first pac fight.

I think mab was most definitely in his peak when pacman fought him.

so i'd put both about 3/4 years past their peaks. now do I think that mab declined more in this period than jmm did? very hard to say. I mean mab had acclimatised to the weight already and it was JMM debut at the weight.

I feel quite safe in saying the difference in decline between the two was not considerable.

I make a distinction between peak and prime. JMM's peak may have been fw, but he is not what I'd call a past-prime fighter even now. He is still performing as effectively in his fights as he was in the mid 2000s. IMO, Barrera was patently a past-prime fighter by the time he fought JMM. The fights with Rocky Juarez told me this. I have not seen any JMM fights where he looked close to being as declined as Barrera did in the Juarez double-header.

Strongly disagree. For one, he didn't have a good camp. Two, he already had some wars against McKinney and Morales, not to mention other fights he had with JJ. Not shot by any means, but not at his peak physically or mentally. Mentally he was better prepared for his 2nd fight with Pac.
