It really is a bold move to make the Kiko match now, but I have to question some of the comments made by McGuigan in this article. He bemoans the lack of small hall shows and opportunities to build up a record, but he had a six fight deal with Setanta and has cut it short. There has been quite a few other small hall shows recently, and they are doing it without any TV help. He could have put Carlos in with the likes of Casey, Hyland etc and got a few more 10 and 12 round fights before stepping up to European level against a seasoned and heavy hitter like Kiko. I still think Carlos is so talented that even as a ten fight relative novice he will find a way to beat Kiko, but I prefer him to get a bunch more fights under his belt first, and when he fights at European and hopefully World level, he will be more than ready for it. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/colum...-my-lad-frampton-comes-alive-115875-23324031/
In today's Irish News Paddy Barnes was saying that he doesnt think the winners of this weeks unseeded open competition in Dublin should form the team for the 2011 AIBA World Championships. Barnes said: "It should be Irish Champions going and that's it....what's the point in winning Irish and the Europeans and not going to the World Championships." Sean Crowley, Honorary secretary for the Boxing Council of IABA said he was recommending that the World Championship team should be made up of the winners of this weeks competition. The World Championships are qualifiers for the Olympic Games, meaning that Barnes' place at next year's London Games could be in jeopardy. I have to agree with Barnes, this weekends competition is ridiculous, it should be the Irish Champions going to the World Championships.

Good Interview with Ray Moylette in boxing news today talking about the european championship, and a bit about tthe box offs.

I'm thinking Coyle by pts, Hyland by stoppage, Sweeney by stoppage and Eade by pts. Anyone any different views or the same:nut?
I know what you mean about Coyle, he has power but his stoppage ratio flatters him a little. I'm getting these at 69/1 accumalator with Boylesport.Puca your familar with Eade, isn't that correct? I'm having second thoughts on his experience against a wily pro like Coveney. What do you think?
ive a feeling coveney could stop him tbh but jesus the 3 of them bets come to 69/1 thats well worth a tenner
It's the four predictions come to 69/1. I take it you have seen Eade box a few times. What makes you think Coveney can stop him?. Has Eade shown dodgey whiskers in the past? I can't remember hearing or reading that.
i think i remember someone saying he got dropped heavily right on the bell at the end of his last fight i think (if im remembering wrong apoligys) i just think coveneys gonna be to wiley and outfox him and stop him
He was knocked down in the last round of his last fight: Go to 20:50 of the video [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1EeboglQGY[/ame]
