Well he's gonna have to retire eventualy, but I don't ever want him to go away totaly. I hope to see him training top notch fighters in 10 years or so. Training and fighting are different. But the things that make Hopkins a great fighter, would make him a really good trainer.

No historical correlation between being a good fighter and a good trainer.

    Different skill-set.

Can't think of any good reason why he wouldn't make a good trainer. The guy has his head screwed on when it comes to all matters boxing.

I see where you are comin from
But you cant help but be reminded of sweat pea as the trainer of zab.
Not sure if its zab holding him back or not

Id love to see bhop train. However he willl probly be to busy defending hes titles. Into hes mid 60s. What a beast

Knowing his stuff doesn't immediately make him a good trainer. Training requires different qualities.

I think its all but a guarantee that he will try his hand at training as soon as he decides to hang up his gloves for good. Whether or not he'll be successful is up in the air.

Without question a student under Bouie Fisher ,the man is a wealth of knowledge ..Wonder if he would consider it once he hangs them up ..Jean Pascal should hire him asap if he did that ..

Look at how many great fighters actually became great trainers.

    Very few, if any.

Knowing his stuff is a great start and what say he hasn't got the other qualities you are talking about?

I never said he lacks anything all I said was training doesn't only require elite fighting abilities. That's why we will never know.

Some great fighters and athletes have a tough time being trainers/coaches because they lack patience and don't understand how others don't pick up things as fast as they did, or have the same desire.

I don't know if this is the case for great boxers who became trainers but the track record is not good.

    Zab is damaged goods.

Hopkins would absolutely make a great trainer.
